Reflection

Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected:
I think the only weak point of my application was my SAT score but even then I qualified in the bottom 25th percentile. I spent a couple months with a recently graduation English teacher at my school writing my essays. All of my essays were not only good reads, but they conveyed exactly who I am. If anyone wants a sample pm me.

My Recs were no less that outstanding. I really pushed for over the top ideas and it worked out well.

My school is a three year high school, so having three years in student gov and mock trial were good as well.

General Comments :

I had a friend who got rejected from Stanford, another was wait-listed at Harvard, and now I am accepted at Tufts, things happen in threes I suppose. Super happy about this acceptance, my school district had it’s first snow day in 16 years so I guess today is just my day.

Go jumbos!

Why you think you were accepted: I think they saw how interested I was in what I would study and that it seemed like a good addition for tufts…really dont know tbh.

Where else were you accepted: only applied here.

General Comments :
To anyone seeing this and frantically wondering if they will get in, you should really try not to listen to this website. From reading this site i was convinced I would be rejected, but somehow they saw something. Listen to people like your guidance counselors who have been dealing with this stuff for a lot longer. The process is really much more complex than can be understood by just looking at these threads. Read this article if you want to see what I mean:
http://admissions.tufts.edu/blogs/inside-admissions/post/the-reality-of-committee/?platform=hootsuite

I must say that this website made me more stressed out than I’ve ever been, and I do not mean to completely bash it (because it certainly can be helpful) but I’m just saying don’t worry too much about what you see here, because i definitely did.

@Zorba5398 I am from Vietnam too. I think nobody in Vietnam requiring a lot of aid got accepted in this ED1 round. I think Tufts is changing quite a bit this year. Both the Dean of Admissions and the Director of International Admissions were changed. Or maybe it is easier for us to get in ED2 in Tufts. I have seen a lot of people in the past years got accepted for ED2 but only a few for ED1. With about 25k family contribution, we really have to compete hard with others. But good luck to you and may Tufts rest in peace in our hearts.

@pray4laif I am in the same club. Applied from Pakistan, asking for about 50 % aid. Yeah, looks like they turned out harsh on us this year.

Reflection

Strengths: I had a very rigorous course load throughout high school, taking as many adv courses as possible. (My school doesn’t offer AP’s or honors). I go to a very prestigious prep school outside of Philly. I placed in the top 2% recently in a math modeling competition with a team from my school. My GPA has trended upwards dramatically, I have a 4.4W for senior year so far, compared to my 3.3W freshman year.
Weaknesses: My freshman and sophomore year were pretty weak for me academically. I was dealing with a lot of personal stuff, and it really effected my school work.
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I’m not a phenomenal student. I think my academics are the main thing that held my Tufts application back.

General Comments: People probs know me already but don’t worry! I was devastated after being rejected Cornell ED (my dream school for years) and thought I would be rejected from my second choice, Tufts, too. I kept on worrying and looking over these threads for the past two months but I received some of the best news of my life today! College admissions are completely random and you just don’t know what will happen!
