Tufts Class of 2022 ED II Thread

Hi everyone! This is the place to discuss our ED II applications for Tufts this year. Good luck!

torn between tufts ed 2 and umiamiflorida my scores are way below average 1330 sat but my GPA is strong ECs are awesome. International and will need fin aid any advice

@Pillazzo10309 your sat score being below average might hurt your application. Tufts might be a reach. But if your ECs are awesome enough to cover for below average scores, along with excellent supplementary essays, I think it’s worth a shot!

Hi so I have fairly recent legacy, met with the admissions counselor many times, however my act score is a 24. I know how high Tufts is, is there no chance I can get in? I have amazing EC’s and GPA/recommendations. Please be brutally honest. Also I am applying ED II.

@Soccer346 being brutally honest: not gonna happen. A 24 is 9 points below Tufts’ averag ACT. I did know a kid who got in with a 26-28, but he was a recruited athlete. My friend who just applied ED with a 34-35 was rejected.

@Soccer346 Hi there!!! Is there any particular reason why your ACT score does not match your GPA and extracurricular activities?
Providing context for your ACT score – whether it be your text anxiety or the restraint of curriculum provided at your high school, etc. – might help your chance, but a 24 does seem at the low end for Tufts admissions.
Please note that last year’s ACT mid-50% for enrolled students was 31-34 with a mean of 32.5.
Have you taken the SATs, IB, or APs that might demonstrate your academic prowess alternatively?
Anyways, good luck with your application process !!!

Hey guys! I am applying to Tufts ED II for civil engineering. I am a female, high income bracket from California. I am in the IB program so all of my courses are IB. 33 on the ACT. I am really conflicted because the classes I have gotten the lowest grades in have been my IB science courses (B’s and B-'s) do you think this will significantly hinder my application since I am applying for a STEM major? gpa: 4.3

Submitted. Fingers crossed.

@1256asas Hi! I don’t think it will significantly hinder you application since your act score is on the 75th percentile and your gpa is above average. I think it will depend more on your supplements.

I applied ed II #nervousaf

Does anyone know the decisions date?

@plzcollegeplz3 mid-february. I’m guessing at around 9th~14th. I wish I knew the exact date tho

@mudbloodforlife thanks! – i’m going to be high key going insane until then lol

@plzcollegeplz3 lol same here

Me too, honestly. Recently, I got deferred ED from Brown and since then I have had .000001% confidence in myself. It really sucks. I feel like I am not going to get accepted anywhere.

@sciencenerd123 Don’t be! I know that being deferred isn’t the best news but it still isn’t the worst! Brown, one of the most prestigious schools IN THE WORLD, is saying “hey, you’re not the worst candidate!”. Don’t be discouraged. I couldn’t even dream to apply to Brown. haha

@mudbloodforlife Thanks. I know being deferred isn’t the worst thing but it just sucks because I poured my heart and soul into my application. I really really hope I get in to Tufts EDII because I want to withdraw my application from Brown and be like hey it’s your loss lol. Also, I love Tufts. It’s weird, a month ago I couldn’t imagine myself at any school other than Brown. Being deferred absolutely crushed me–it’s just hard because it feels like everything I’ve ever done was for nothing, you know? I applied to 8 other schools, including Tufts. I got into WPI early action and UMaine early action so far, so I know I have those to fall back on but still…

@sciencenerd123 I get it. I applied to Rice and got rejected. And like you, I couldn’t imagine myself at any other school. So, yeah, I tooootally get it. But, hey, life is full of pleasant surprises so who knows?

The thing is I love Tufts too but I don’t really expect to get in. First of all, I’m an Asian international lol
Second, I’m applying for financial aid! These factors really slim down my chance. But I also got into WPI early action (highfive on that) so I’m not too stressed out.

what do you want to major in?

@mudblood I got into WPI for BME, but at Tufts I applied to Arts and Sciences for Biology & Biotechnology–I didn’t fulfill the subject test requirements for the School of Engineering (ie. apparently biology isn’t a science lol). If I do get in, I might transfer from A&S to Engineering but idk.

Sorry about Rice :(.

@sciencenerd123 thanks but it’s fine. I got over it pretty quickly lol. best of luck to you!
