Tufts Class of 2022 ED II Thread

would just like to say that I had an ACT score of 25- doubtful I would get in as well. However, my essays were great and EC’s were okay, along with great recommendations. I obviously excelled in AP classes, etc. The point is, STANDARDIZED TESTS ARE NOT EVERYTHING. I promise you that if they see you’re a good fit and you work hard, that’s what matters.

i got in!! Forgot to post on here about it

Congrats to anyone who got accepted! I was deferred…Wondering if anyone else got deferred

It says our financial aid releases next week. Not withdrawing other apps until I review the package

When ED students are accepted, do you withdraw your applications from RD at other schools?

@apdns19 You are required to by the ED agreement you signed.

@TomSrOfBoston I didn’t apply ED. I was just wondering what others do. So as soon as you receive your acceptance, you reach out to all other schools?

@apdns19 Yes. At least that is what you are supposed to do.

Accepted EDII

If you’re admitted and/or a prospective student, join this group chat. I’d love to get to know some of you before the academic year starts!

Pass the link around :)!

anyone know the stats on ed2 admissions 2022? numbers applicants, profile?

me neither @ucfdefere - waiting for fin aid decision before I withdraw other apps

Still waiting for financial aid.

@ucfdefere financial aid packages came out!

Deferred. Again. It’s all good though. My GC called them and apparently they wanted to see my midyear grades but according to her they liked me. I’m going to write a REALLY good letter of continued interest. From what I’ve read Tufts doesn’t defer a whole lot of people, so it’s not like when I was deferred by Brown ED because Brown literally deferred 60% of us. Anyhow, I think I have a decent shot. My GC was quite shocked about it, just based on how many people Tufts admits from my school and how I fit into that group of people. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to wait until next month. Maybe I’ll get into Brown? Who knows. Maybe I won’t (I probably won’t lol). But it’ll all work out in the end.

@sciencenerd123 Sorry I’m really late but I really really do wish you the best! Your story is very enthralling and so I’m not surprised that Tufts really liked you. And yes, it’ll all work out in the end. Hang in there!

Yeah, liked me well enough to defer and not to admit. Of course :(. Congrats to you, though! I knew you would get in!

Are there any legal implications of ditching a school after getting accepted under ED II and confirming with the Enrollment deposit and everything?

What I have heard, albeit not officially (mostly from posters on this board and other online sites)is that an ED admit is binding, although I don’t think there is any legal basis to force you to attend/pay tuition. The only legitimate way out is if you/your family feel the FA package is insufficient (I would guess there are other outs based on emergencies like unanticipated serious illnesses, etc). What I’ve “heard” is that if a student withdraws from an ED admit without legitimacy is that this results in sort of a rolling embargo on admission for that student at other schools. Whether or how the colleges communicate that is not clear to me. I know a student who applied ED1 to Penn on a whim without expecting acceptance, she was admitted, and really wanted to attend a different (non-Ivy) school. Don’t let your college counselors push you into applying early somewhere just to boost their stats!

@sciencenerd123 Thank youuu soooo much but yeah :frowning: I know it’s hard and I know being deferred might feel like a rejection.

Just make sure to remind yourself that it’s NOT personal. Colleges sometimes have to defer perfectly qualified wonderful applicants! I know we tend to feel like college will somehow determine the rest of your life forever but you and I both know that that’s just not true!!!

Try to relax, have some chocolate icecream and let it be. Whatever happens will happen. You just do your best girl! And wherever you end up, you’ll be brilliant. No doubt on that. Be proud of yourself.

Did anyone, accepted under ED II get added to the Facebook group?
