Tufts Classes

Are the classes at Tufts pretty personal or you tend to feel like you're just a number? Are TAs often used or are you taught mostly by your professor and get to feel like you know him/her?

My sophomore daughter has had many classes with 15 or less students- one class had 4. There are also bigger classes, and all taught by profs. The bigger classes (and nothing compared to the size of UC classes) also have an extra recitation small class to supplement, with TA’s teaching those. So for a bigger class you get both the prof and then an extra smaller class with a TA. Very personal- most profs know who she is and she’s got to know most of them, and loves them. Plus their advisors are fabulous.

That’s great to hear, thank you so much!

My D has talked enthusiastically about those recitation classes and the TAs who lead them. Those TAs, plus her advisor, have been very helpful to her, as have been the writing fellows who’ve helped her with papers. One of them encouraged my D to apply for a spot herself, and now she will be a writing fellow next year… and she’s a STEM major.
