Hey guys! I’m a junior in high school that has started to look at colleges. I visited Tufts, and I fell in love with the campus and the programs and the vibe. It would for sure be my #1, and I was maybe considering applying ED, but the only thing holding me back is the tuition. My family just makes above the estimated cut off, so I would probably end up paying like $50,000 a year if I ended up going. Is it worth it? It just seems so expensive, and I’m scared that if I get in ED and the price is crazy high I’m screwed for sure.
Does anyone have any experience with Tufts financial aid? Thanks in advance!!
It would be very unwise to apply ED for Tufts if it is not a financial “safety” for you.
Do the FA calculator. Tufts is the def most generous in FA private school in Boston (after Harvard and MIT) and easily offers more than BC, BU, NEU, Brandeis for the same income amounts and easily one of the most generous in Massachusetts by meeting 100% demonstrated aid.
Do the Tufts Net price calculator with your incomes and tax forms accurately. I did mine and the amount that came out was within 50 dollars of my actual package given ($40000 grant on the NPC actually received $40050 after getting in ED). Applying ED does not affect your award package and if they can’t meet your need, you can decline the offer without breaking the agreement.
Just be sure you and your parents have a discussion about the budget.
Imwould find out which admissions officer covers your region and email him/her with your question.
Be sure to check explain that you are inclined to apply ED.
