Shaninagans: I am so shocked. Your GPA is stellar. I am sorry that the SAT scores ended up seeming to play a really big role in your rejection. You'll go to a great school, I'm sure of it, even if it's not Tufts. Good luck!

i feel like all of us who obsessed over TAMS and lived on the CC forums the last couple weeks and got in should have a party one year from now, at tufts, to celebrate acceptance

thanks lolabelle. I sure hope so.

see you all in the fall! =P

moments, with your stats, maybe it was the essay that put you into deferral-land. Write a really compelling letter telling them why Tufts is still your #1 choice and why they should want you (what are you going to contribute to Tufts and the world). Shine your personality. Don't give up. You have excellent numbers. Try to figure out what was the missing element.

congrats Dkspikez!

momentshaveyou, I think you still have an excellent shot at RD and def. agree with blucroo that you should write them a letter saying that Tufts is still your first choice.

i still have no idea what got me in, maybe it was my essay or interview?

I'd say your great GPA, rank, and SAT II scores helped overshadow your SAT I CR and Writing scores which you know are subpar. Congrats!!!!

thanks for the support you guys!!! i probably didnt get in bc of the supplement essays. i really liked my commonapp one but i think i messed up on the others... my ecs are pretty strong (i didnt mention clubs and 4 yrs mun in the previous post in addition to xc/track) so i dont think that was the reason. also i cant retake any tests but i will write them a letter and sent a great optional essay and hope for the best!

I have a question about deferral. When I filled out the application for early I also filled out the form for sports but never communicated with the coach as I didn't think I was good enough to be recruited. Was that form key in admissions, or would it only be used if I were accepted? Is it too late to talk to the coach? I have been on varsity cross country and track and would like to continue even if it does not make a difference in admissions.

momentshaveyou - I can't figure out why you didn't get in. You seem like the perfect candidate. Good luck to you on RD. Don't give up! Let Tufts know how much you want to go there.

Best of luck to you on RD. :-)

A girl from my school applied ED as a high reach. She wanted to study English, but told admissions that she would be entering with a concentration in engineering (in hopes of having a better chance of being admitted since she was female). If accepted, she would have immediately switched to a concentration in the English department. She got rejected on Friday.

Unbelievable. She deserved that rejection.

Ditto. And don't worry, HMC--colleges can see through that crap.

I don't know, I feel like an engineering backdoor could work if the application suggests a strength in math/sciences. Like if I had applied to engineering, I had pretty good SATs, I took BC Calc and AP Bio, and my activities included chem team and physics team (LOL which actually I only did b/c he'd give 10 points extra credit for every meet you went to and I needed it, but shhhh). I think that that may have shown them that I was at least a little interested in engineering, so maybe I could have gotten away with it.

I'm doing RD, but my friend got accepted
