Tufts ED2 2026

The day of reckoning has arrived.

Has anyone else been contacted by Tufts Financial Aid office asking for additional documents or clarification? One of their people wrote to us last night asking for a missing doc. Hopefully a good sign but, with the crazy way things have been going in this years cycle, I’m not going to read into it too much.

Sounds pretty promising to me! They wouldn’t bother clarifying anything this last minute otherwise. Good luck!

Hope you’re right! But as Tufts is need aware, just concerned that they may be putting into a pile by need amount and if we are not near the top that could turn a ‘yes’ into a ‘no’. Who knows…will be so happy when this process is DONE.

Don’t be so concerned with the “needs aware” policy. I would say the schools that have that are more transparent and honest about their process unlike their “needs blind” counterparts, hence the anti-trust lawsuit against some big name schools right now! We applied for FA and got in, son has similar stats to yours. There are more FA funds available for the ED applicants as well. You have a reason to be optimistic right now!

Thanks @rlee70. I talked to Tufts admissions office early in the process. They said admissions takes a first pass without consideration for need. Then they give the kids requesting aid to the FA office to essentially confirm aid levels and then it goes back to admissions for final call. Sounds like we are prob in the ‘want him based on aid level’ pile.

And, yes, that needs blind lawsuit is as fascinating as it is frustrating. Going to be really interesting to see how that shakes out.

Can you please share stats?

Congratulations! It seems it was a good sign to get the FA e-mail after all :grinning:

Yep…time to exhale now!

1510 SAT; 3.9UW/4.3W taking most difficult course load school offers. Top 5% of class. Two 4-credit college courses in intended major at Harvard and Tufts. Two varsity sports at very competitive HS (8 seasons total). Captain, MVP, first team all state in one. 10 APs. Pres of Speech/Debate; Pres/Founder of French Club; NHS; AP Scholar; Tons of volunteer hours. Solid other ECs and leadership; FT job each summer since 14 yo. Strong LORs (we think) but no obvious hooks.

My daughter sadly did not get in. She had a 1510 SAT and 3.99 unweighted GPA. Maxed APs. Strong leadership roles in ECs. A great relationship with teachers who did the LORs. We did move countries in her senior year. So she probably would’ve been captain of two varsity sports had we been able to stay…but wasn’t able to be. Just putting that out there for the rest of you who were also rejected. I don’t know how much more she could’ve possibly done. And I never anticipated how hard it is to be rejected WITH NO FEEDBACK! If only there could be feedback!

Sorry to hear. There are so many qualified students that don’t get the call at top schools. Just too many strong students and not enough spots.

But she should be proud that she reached for the stars. You can’t win if you don’t try. And I commend everyone who tries !!

And no doubt she will have plenty of quality opportunities and will be sought after !!

Love those that love you…and I’m sure 98% of the colleges in the country will love her !!

Good luck.

I totally understand ho you feel. Your your dtr has great stats ! I hope she find a school the she loves and school loves her back . Good luck !

Child was rejected and we were shocked. 4.0 UW/34 ACT at the most challenging school with no grade inflation in a major US city. Great LOR, leadership roles etc. Had been deferred by an Ivy and decided to play it safe by going for Tufts ED2 rather than rolling the dice in the ED round. Outright rejection seemed odd. This is a crazy process. Now the wait extends til April.

I am sorry to hear. Its unpredictable . I hope your child has other schools that she interested in, that accepted her .

Congratulations! Very exciting!

I am sure you have heard this but I will say it too-Rejection doesn’t equal not qualified by any means! It is not a reflection of your child not being good enough but rather the incredibly crazy, impossible to predict admission cycle, much worse than we have ever seen! At this point colleges are building their classes based on some opaque social engineering criteria and even the most talented of students can be faced with a rejection.
