I know it might be a little early for Fall 2017 transfer threads, but if you’re anything like me you’re already obsessing over admissions.
If everyone applying could please post their stats, advice, experiences, etc… it would be much appreciated

MY STATS:
Female, Caucasian, Upper middle class
Current School: Average regional university
Major: Economics & Public Policy Double Major (depends on which school I get in to)
College GPA: 4.0
Extra Curriculars/Extra Stuff:
High School GPA: 2.7
Yes, I did absolutely terrible in high school. But hopefully they’ll be able to see how I got my act together and that I’m completely capable of succeeding at their school.
I welcome input and criticism on my chances
I’m applying to transfer in sophmore year as well! I go to a top 50 private university in the northeast
college gpa: hopefully 3.8+, nothing is finalized
Major: psych on a pre-dental track
E.C:
-Relay for life operation director
-Dental assistant
High school GPA: 4.1
ACT: 31
APs: took 5
I applied senior year of highschool last year and got waitlisted so I’m hoping 2nd time is a charm!
To any students who transfered to tufts, could you share your experience/how difficult it was to assimilate to the social scene?
Could someone chance me?
College: University of Massachusetts Amherst
College GPA: 3.93
Major: English and Political Science
So I am going to join a few clubs next semester and last semester I wasn’t really involved but took 5 days out of university to volunteer for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin where I worked in the office and went door to door, made phone calls, and helped volunteers, etc. so I think that could set me apart from other applicants. In addition, I may write about how that experience changed my view of the political world and instead of ignoring the (obvious) disapointment that came as a result of the election, particularly in Wisconsin, I could talk about how the things we can take away from the defeat/the improvements that need to be made in reaching out to voters.
I also took a gap year last year where I lived in Berlin, Germany for six months and worked the entire fall and directed a show at my high school/acted in another show simultaneously.
My high school GPA was a 3.3 (I know, pretty low) but I was very involved in theater and have several awards I can cite. My SATs are also 1850 which is well below their average.
I think if I emphasize how important my gap year was to me I can make up for my poor high school performance and as far as extracurriculars go I don’t have many but the ones I believe could set me apart.
We should resurrect this thread as apps are due soonish! How many of you have applied already? How is everyone feeling? Anyone else a junior transfer?
What are my chances?
Current College: University of Virginia (first year)
College GPA: 3.75 / 4.00
HS GPA: 3.9/4.0
SAT: 2040/2400 or 1340/1600
EC’s for college
I’m kind of worried about my recs… My professor rec will be kind of weak. I chose my Italian prof who I know the best but English isn’t her first language so I don’t really think it will be an eloquent letter.
Anybody wanna take a stab at my chances?
Currently at a top 30 school.
GPA:3.9/4
Year: Fresh
Major: physics
HS GPA: 3.8 uw, 4.6 w (my grades were dropped by missing half a semester due to illness)
Scores:
35 ACT
EC’s:
Nanoscience research, producing virtual reality promotions for my school, volunteer work with a local homeless shelter (helping residents adopt a computer lab and find jobs, housing, etc.), one theatre production, club tennis, and college democrats (slight work for Clinton campaign).
Hopefully strong recs, but can’t be certain.
Currently taking a physics course intended with seniors and a couple juniors, if that matters.
Hello all! I am new to cc and applying to a few schools. I figure I might as well post my stats and would love some honest feedback, no matter how harsh. I do not want to have any regrets when applying to schools. So, I am applying to schools that I know are a big reach.
Objective
HS GPA 3.0 – poor, I know:( I explain why in personal statement
MI Community College – 3.84 ( not including Mid-Term report, which is a 4.0)
Large upward trend
Fall 2015 – 3.668 (A- in Introductory french 1, but A in Intermediate 1 and A in IM 2 on MD report)
Winter 2016 – 3.82 (A- in introductory french 2, but A later in Intermediate 1 and A in IM 2 on MD report)
Summer 2016 – 4.0
Fall 2016 – 4.0
Winter 2016 – 4.0 on mid-term report
I have All A’s except for 3 A- and a B- in Fall 2015 in honors comp-1
I received an A in english comp-2.
My course load is very rigorous. It is as hard as it gets for a CC. Several honors courses
A’s in honors micro, honors gov, intermediate french 1, statistics, macro, and several more. I will graduate with an Associate of Arts this semester.
Personal Statement
I poured my heart into it. In hs, both my parents lost their jobs, my home was foreclosed, we relied on others for housing, my family went on food stamps, and I worked at McDonald’s to support my family. I explained how this resulted in my fascination for all things related to government and as a result, wanting to major in poli sci with the intention of becoming a lawyer. I also explained how a higher education will allow me to support my mom. I think it explains my life, motives, and why I am doing what I am doing. TBH very proud of it. Overall 9.5/10 IMO
Supps
I think strong. All were proofread by very reputable people. The let your life speak essay was particularly great as I have so many experiences to share.
LOR-- I have three. One from French, Econ, and head of honors program. I believe they are all excellent.
EC’s – I will only list college.
Work at McDonald’s for several hours a week
Elected president of leadership club.
VP of an academic club
Volunteer work with Dementia Patients
Very involved in my chabad. I’m very active in the Jewish Community
Leader of Jewish youth group
Research this summer at U of M–Ann Arbor
Again, I realize this is not a chance me thread, but would love to interact with all of you about the transfer process.
Has anyone received anything from Tufts about an online portal where we can check the status of our application?
Nevermind. Found it.
Does anyone have a sense for what majors make it difficult to get accepted? I’m guessing more popular majors like econ, or something like that are hard, no?
Also, does anyone have any inside info on when we hear back?
I applied CS of art&science
Applied for English (premed though)
According to previous threads, Tufts usually sends out the first wave of decisions around 4/25
I’m surprised by the silence of this thread…
Admitted today.
Coming from a top 30 university (U.S. News)…anyone else?
You just got accepted? Congratulations! When did your app completed? @veo321
hey are you shitting me? The deadline was less than a month ago.
What’s your major btw? @veo321
wow that’s fast! What were you credentials if you don’t mind me asking.
Also was Tufts the only school that you applied too?
Is it bad I’m kinda wary of sharing the details, I’m a dual degree student if that changes anything–my stats were nothing great!
