Tufts is currently #1 in National D3 Sports Ranking!

Tufts is ranked #1 in the November Division 3 Directors Cup Ranking!

The ranking includes Mens and Womens Cross country, Field Hockey and Volleyball.

The next ranking for D3 fall sports will come out in a few weeks and it will include Mens and Womens Soccer. Tufts Mens Soccer Team is playing in the NCAA final 4 this weekend, but the womens team did not qualify for the tournament this year.

The final fall ranking will include Football, but NESCAC schools do not participate in post season tournaments for football. Tufts Football team came in second in NESCAC play behind Trinity.

Go Jumbos!

Go Jumbos!

Very surprised to see this as Tufts is currently persecuting the majority of male athletes and fraternity members as homophobic and misogynist. My son is a male athlete and fraternity member there at the present and does not feel welcomed at the school. There is currently a “cease and desist order” against fraternities (ones dominated by male athletes) for unsubstantiated accusations from unreliable sources. If I were a male athlete, I would be very concerned about choosing Tufts.

While I’m only vaguely familiar with the current situation for greek life on campus (which I believe is affecting all fraternities, not just the predominantly athletic ones, and also sororities) I can say for sure as an alum and a Jumbo athlete that there are many athletes on campus (including the majority of my former teammates in TUXC and TUTF) who choose not to participate in greek life. This wouldn’t concern me at all as a high school athlete considering Tufts.

@HVbaseballDad, I’m a current Tufts student and the focus right now is on fraternity members, not athletes. Fraternity houses have run into their fair share of controversy over the past few years (I remember the fraternity stabbing happened a few days before I toured…) but I don’t think this animosity is extended to athletes. If anything, I would say the student body is far more apathetic towards sports than they are hostile.

The allegations against Tufts fraternities are serious, and it would be irresponsible (and potentially a violation of title 9) of the university not to investigate them. I’m sorry your son feels alienated, but frankly it’s more important to pursue these claims and ensure that nobody was harmed or assaulted than to ensure fraternity members can continue to host parties and other social events.

Qwerty568,

In my opinion, the allegations toward the Greek system at Tufts are unsubstantiated and represent the attitude “since I don’t like you, I will shut you down.” There has been no due process. My son’s fraternity has not been informed of any specific allegations and has not been informed what it is under investigation for. It goes beyond the ability to “host parties and other social events”. Recruitment has been suspended. That is a financial death sentence for a fraternity. My son received tremendous support from his friends in his fraternity during a difficult period in his life and fraternity housing has been a cheaper solution for my son in an area where rents average $8-900 per month on a 12 month lease. That is now in jeopardy and he would like to know specifically why. If anybody was harmed or assaulted anywhere on the campus, prosecute the offenders immediately. Failure to do so is not an indictment on the Fraternity system, it is an indictment on the University. It really bothers me when gross generalizations are prosecuted indiscriminately.

@HVbaseballDad, that’s disappointing to hear that the fraternities don’t feel as though they’ve been given due process. That may be something that deserves its own discussion here. I just want to reiterate, though, that it is certainly not an attack on athletes, except that some athletes are in fraternities.
