Which one would you choose for a double major in International Relations and Economics? And why? Thanks.

tufts...international relations is one of the strongest programs in the country with the grad program...and many students double major...boston...friendlier student body overall....i would hands down pick tufts over emory

Coke school vs the Elephant school, I'd prefer the elephant :)

Yeah, I know this is the Tufts forum, but honestly, as someone who just spent 6 months researching EVERY, and I mean EVERY good school with a decent Poli Sci/IR program in the country, Tufts is the route you want to take. The IR program, as mentioned is one of the best, if not the best in the country due to the premier Fletcher IR grad school, which "is" the best in the country. Furthermore, Boston will simply afford you more opportunities for research, internships, etc than Atlanta ever could.

Tufts.

1 International Relations program in the country.

Then again you're hearing all of this from very biased opinions. I'd visit each, take an overnight stay, and then decide based on the feel. That's ultimately the most important factor that sadly is forgotten among the numbers and prestige craze.

^ Very true, it's all about what school "fits" you. Fortunately, since I cannot afford to visit schools, debate gave me the opportunity to see schools like: Wake Forest, Emory, Harvard, Princeton, etc this past year, so although I won't see Tufts for another month, when I go up there, I knew most of the other schools that I applied to weren't truly for me.

Good luck!

Tufts !!! By far...

Au revoir

haha, now go on the emory board and ask the same question

^ He did, but no one responded, so I say Tufts again! If only for a better social community! lol

I visited Tufts and loved it. They do have a spectacular IR program - you can take courses at the Fletcher School even as an undergrad, which by itself practically justifies attending Tufts.

I applied to Tufts and didn't even look at Emory...however, this could be because I came up with my list fairly early in my junior year and never got much advice from my counselors.

Haha wouldn't you know it, but I think I'm switching from Poli Sci/Quant Econ to IR/Quant Econ. It is SO EASY to do it, b/c the requirements overlap. I think that out of a possible 30 courses, you can do it with 17, which is amazing. Tufts is unbelievable in IR - also, the study abroad is excellent and that's great for IR.

But I didn't apply to Emory b/c it was soooo far away from home. My friend went there for a semester and loved it. And I know nothing about its IR program, i'm just vouching for Tufts' lol
