I know i don't stick out from the millions of kids applying to the schools i wanna get into, so it'd be awesome if you guys could give me some suggestions. Also what would be some good safties to apply to?

Basically any comments would be really helpful at this point!
Thanks!

Tufts alumna here. It's a match school for you - your stats are there, so the ECs/essays/recs/cover letter will make or break you. Play up the piano & volunteering - Tufts pretty much requires long-term committment to ECs.

Most of the schools on your list are probably matches. I don't think that any of them could be properly called a safety (don't know enough about McGill/Purdue/Carnegie to say).

Some of it depends on your high school - my high school always sent a fair number to Harvard and Tufts, but never MIT.

Um, safeties. I'm guessing you want small universities in the Northeast/mid-Atlantic. Try:
*Brandeis
*BU (I know someone who got into Tufts & rejected there; her guidance counselor called and asked why. They said that they knew she would get in other places so they didn't take her, but would happily have her if there was noplace else for her to go.)
*GW
*James Madison
*Lehigh
*Fordham

Duke- high match
Tufts, JHU, Georgetown, Carnegie Mellon- matches
Purdue, Mcgill- safeties

Thanks so much for the feedback!! it was really helpful!

ariesathena- yeah same, my school sends a couple to harvard, cornell, tufts, but never MIT and like one to Yale each year. Its really predicatable

GPA: 4.5 W, 3.7 UW (All A's except for 3B+'s and one B soph year)
.....wouldnt that GPA be higher than a 3.7uw....just wondering....

/i...*BU (I know someone who got into Tufts & rejected there; her guidance counselor called and asked why. They said that they knew she would get in other places so they didn't take her, but would happily have her if there was noplace else for her to go.)

This just shows how RANDOM the admission decisions are. Everything is so confusing. I think only lucky kids end up in the schools of thier choice. It is almost like plying lottery!

ROTFLMAO

"2200 (But im taking it again)"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

And then you have the nerve to ask about chances at PURDUE.

kids like you make me nervous.

same here holy god

You and I are similar stats - wise… I had a 3.65 UW and a 2300… it’s tough at the top schools for us low GPAers. Duke’s gonna be really tough, I really don’t see you getting in there (sorry). Georgetown and Duke are middle reaches, Tufts and Carnegie are a little less reachy, the others are safeties.
