Tufts stays @ 27%

Ok - why is it that when Cornell and JHU's admit rate drops, we decide to stay at 27% for the class of 2011? Are we trying to hurt ourselves?

And Northwestern's dropped below Tufts as well...

What are we thinking?????

I heard it was 26%, which is technically a tiny drop 26.6% last year... To be fair I think NU, at least, reverted to the Common App this year which may account for their huge drop.

who really cares? as long as they're admitting competent freshman that's all that matters.

23%!!!!!!!!!!!

I love how the Daily article says that the admitted class of 2011's mean SAT rose "seven points from 1440 to 1443." The paper has really gone downhill lately....

Haha, the Daily. What great Constitutional analysis that publication has!

actually, it said from "1443 to 1440" which makes slightly less sense at first ("it dropped?") until you realize they accidentally had a 4 instead of a 5. And then didn't notice it at all while editing.

Haha - Yea Lolabelle - I read that at 6am this morning and tried to leave a comment about that increase in 7 points from 1443 to 1440 - I noted it obviously wasn't in the math section!

Hopefully this wont hurt the next USNWR rankings, because then its just going to be a vicious cycle... Yeah the rankings is alotta BS, but nobody can deny that it's influential

Tufts really needs to make at least top 20, where we belong. Closer to schools like Northwestern than USC.

Agreed. I think they need to kick out the dean of admissions and get some lion to replace him.

the admit rate should NOT drop!!!!!!!! lol.

It could be 26% this year - the SAT will still be in line...

Just adding on, it appears nearly all of our competitors dropped considerably this year...except us. There is really no reason why this should have happened.

guys, why does the admit rate matter so much. Cornell, literally 3 years ago, admitted around 30 percent of its students. Is Cornell any different. Do you think employers at Goldman Sachs care that Cornell now admits closer to 20 than 30. This is all a game. Now, if you Tufts' "applicant pool" started to deteriorate, I would say you guys should worry. It is a great school. The rankings mean little in the real world.

The key to getting the admission rate down (not that there's anything wrong with that) is getting more students to APPLY to Tufts.

So instead of complaining, get the word out..........

Didn't Emory have like a 42% admissions rate a few years ago?

Do the number of ED applicants and acceptances affect a school's admissions rate any differently than RD?

Emory Admit Rate:

2004: 42%
2005: 37%
2006: 31%
2007: 26%

So Emory and Tufts are now equal, especially since I've also heard 26% for Tufts now as well (aside from the Daily).
