just to lighten the situation a bit. i love tufts- the academics and the opportunities but the people who answer phones are mean geez horrible.

Care to elaborate?!

well Tufts is my first choice. I already got into U of M Ann Arbor. 30 minutes ago i finished talking to the lady in charge of the Residential College asking her how i could apply. she told me it would be on a first come first serve basis and basically told me i need to send my 200 $ deposit asap. not to mention the housing lottery and etc. i call tufts and try to explain the situation to the person who picked up the phone at undergrad admissions and well to say the least she said APril 1st at least three times without first letting me explain the situation.

I must say that as a telephone answerer at Tufts Admissions Im pretty offended by us being termed "mean and horrible." I'm sorry u had a bad experience but you must realize that a) there is no way to get your decision before they are actually released. A person in the phone room would certainly have no authority to do that, and admissions officers are obviously extremely busy this time of year and unable to answer any calls until April. Even if they did, they would not give out a decision early. Instead of complaining about Tufts, why not Michican? That policy of requiring a deposit now is absurd; they should realize many of their competing schools have no yet even released decisions. b) the answerer was probably short with you because especially in the morning, not many people are there to answer calls, so with a call waiting list of sometimes 6 people, all of them this time of year asking the exact same question, every call must be dealt with quickly. I'm sorry if you fealt the person was rude, but whoever it was was just telling you the truth as quickly as possible.

I think that's kind of cheap of Michigan too...are they counting on a lot of people who send their deposits in early and then not go, so they can generate more money that way?

There's no way that they could have released your decision early for the reasons you cited.

Granted it may be unfair to generalize but if you look back in Feb you'll see my post about those who answer the phone at Tufts. They suddenly changed the notification date from Feb1 to 7 and I was calling to confirm the notification date and I was told something like"it will be posted when its posted". Very rude! I called all the schools my son applied to at one time or another to check on receipt of forms etc. and there was a range of incredibly sweet and helpful to abrupt and rude.

Well, I think the problem is: Decisions have been made, probably days ago. They know. We know they know. They know we know they know...couldn't they just please LET US KNOW!!!
