yea seriously. my mailbox is empty. does tams update by the time you get your letter?

for those of you who haven’t received decisions yet, i believe there is some hope for us. apparently the number of transfer acceptances are greater this year? I read something to that extent on one of the tufts blogs.
[Tufts Transfer ? The Life of a Transfer Student at Tufts](http://tuftsblogs.com/eugenia/)

My TAMS account still shows no decision. And the letter I got says that this year they got a record number of apps, but honestly, it’s like every rejection letter says that.

Ugh! I got a rejection letter today. While I am glad that I don’t have to worry about it anymore, it is still a total bummer. Tufts was my dream school for the last two years (I am transferring from a community college). I could care less about the prestige, I was attracted to Tufts because it was the perfect fit for my personality and desires for completing my undergrad education.

I was accepted to another school that offers the program that I want, which is good, but still…not going to be the same!

Good luck to those who are still waiting.

Hey all,

So, I had this tricky situation where I have to have a deposit in to another school by next week, and my family and I are going out of town next week, so I’d have to send it tomorrow or Friday. I called Tufts to find out what’s the soonest I could get my decision, and they gave it to me over the phone.

Accepted And most likely going once I see the financial aid.

They said they sent it out either yesterday or this morning, so accepted east coasters should hear within the next couple of days, if they sent them all at once.

GOOD LUCK!

linala27,

To my knowledge, that violates FERPA, which makes what they did illegal. Legally, they can only tell you when you can expect a decision.

crucial bbq,

In what way does it violate FERPA? As far as I’ve ever been aware, they are allowed to release information about the student to the student. I think they may not have said anything had my information not already been in the mail.

linala27,

Because you called them and they gave you the decision over the phone. How can they verify your identity? How can they know for certain that you are not an estranged parent, stalker, debt collector, or anyone else that may be trying to track you down or do you harm?

I worked with a committee at my ‘old’ college that dealt with FERPA, and how to get parents to understand it. The rules regarding directory information are kind of iffy, particularly if you do not ‘block’ the info, but you won’t have the opportunity to block, or give consent, until after you have matriculated.

Anyways, I am not here to argue, perhaps they didn’t violate FERPA, or perhaps they did. I don’t want to derail the thread.

Congrats on your invite, though.

Haha, good, since I’m not here for an argument either. I assure you, they asked me more than enough questions to confirm my identity :)

And, thanks :)

(And sorry)

Sweet.

I talked to a friend from school today. He also applied to Tufts as a transfer and he also got denied. I was really surprised that he got turned down, and he was sure that I would get in, too. Knowing both of our records, how involved we were in school, how involved we were in the community, and other top ‘credentials’, it makes me wonder what kind of transfer student Tufts is looking for?

I understand that many (all?) of the transfer apps are ‘Tufts material’, at least that is what the rejection letter alluded to, and that they only have so many spots. But sheesh, if my friend couldn’t get in, then I don’t know. The only thing that comes to mind is the so-called Tufts Syndrome.

is there a definitive date by which tufts will have notified everyone? this trickle of letters is rather annoying…

Yeah, I was a little confused with the admission decisions. I felt confident in my stats, essays and recommendations but I guess I wasn’t their type. I wish I knew why specifically they turned me down.

Out of curiosity, who did the optional essay?

cgeorge

I actually called the admissions office today because I wanted to go ahead and find out…like ripping off a band-aid. either way, the person on the phone kept going on about how decisions are being made on a rolling basis and that all the decisions would be out by the end of may. Or in other words, whenever you get something, you get something. =(

arrrrrgggggggg, that should be illegal. (but thanks for the info!)

Yeah, me too. I would like to know out of curiosity, but in reality unless I postpone college for another year and re-apply next cycle it won’t do me any good.

I am over the shock, and heartbreak -if it can be called that- of not being admitted as an undergrad and will now focus on applying to Tufts as a grad student when that time comes.

I did.

…another thought…

What I would really like to see are numbers. What is the profile, the breakdown of transfer applicants? How many total applied?

@linala- i also did the optional essay

i too would like to see some numbers. i’m getting supernervous. It’s not even a trickle of decisions. More like fluxes. And now there’s a drought.
