What were your stats if you don’t mind? I also applied for chemical engineering.
Of course! I’m 24 years old and have had a non-traditional educational path, which is why I applied to the REAL program. Tufts does not require standardized testing for REAL program applicants, so I did not submit those.
My GPA is 3.84 from a community college. I believe the strength of my application lies in my essays and recommendations; I really tried to make it clear that I’ve made the most out of my opportunities, having had to juggle full-time work and school for about 4 years. My school doesn’t have an honors program, but they do give you the option to do honors projects, which I did in my most challenging classes (e.g. differential equations.) I emphasized my interest in research and showed how I’ve been trying to mimic the kind of education that Tufts offers in my community college career, as well as specified the professors I’d like to work with at Tufts.
I’ve had management jobs, as well as worked in labs and the food industry, done a bunch of volunteer work both in high school and on my own (primarily because I enjoyed it, not because I thought it’d look good on an application,) and was an honors student in high school.
Sorry it’s not as straightforward! A non-traditional student’s application is slightly different than most traditional transfer applicants; even though I was waitlisted, I really think they looked at my application holistically, which at least helped me get a spot on the waitlist. I also think that my Tufts writing supplement essay was really good, and probably helped a lot. I’m now anxiously waiting for more good news! It seems like they’ve waitlisted a lot of people this year, it seems like more than usual…
Hope this helped!
i got waitlisted!! also do u guys have any tips on what i should write in the text box for things to add for consideration?
Good luck, my friend! I have a feeling you will get in! Differential equations!!!?!?!?
I may give up my spot and go somewhere else. If I do hopefully one of you get in.
Thank you guys so much. I’m so nervous!! I hope everybody who got waitlisted from this thread, that wants to go, gets in! Do you guys know approximately how many kids get off the tufts waitlist each year? im trying not to get my hopes up if the number is super low
I wish we could hear back from Tufts about the waitlist soon… my deposit for NEU is due June 4th and I am still waiting to hear back from Tufts and a few other schools that haven’t even released my decision yet
Does any one know when deposit deadline is for the accepted students?
Didn’t someone say June 1st?
I think you can email that school and get an extension while you wait to hear back.
I don’t remember seeing it but I definitely could’ve missed it. Hopefully we’ll hear something right around then. They should have a good idea of who is accepting and who isn’t by then.
If you can afford it, I’d deposit at your current first choice because it may affect housing, registering for classes etc…
NEU isn’t offering housing but I think I probably have to deposit cause they need to determine who they will accept in the next wave idk.
Email admissions and ask if they can extend the deadline for you…
Definitely ask for an extension. NEU has just started rolling out their acceptances so they might be willing to grant it.
Okay I will call tomorrow
Get it in writing if they agree to grant one.
I’m telling you housing at Northeastern is a scam. So it’s good that you’re not stuck with that.
The deposit deadline was june 1st. I got in and that was my deposit date.
Thanks for the info! Congrats on your acceptance!
anyone here going to smfa?
