Tufts vs Combined Med Program

I am going crazy! It's either Tufts or the Union/Albany Medical College combined program. The Union program is 8 yrs and i pick up a MBA in the 8 yrs. What should i do? Is premed at Tufts that stressful or cutthroat?

It's stressful, but not cut-throat. You have an amazing opportunity to get into medical school now as a high schooler, but you may find that this is truly not what you want in time. A lot of people go through the premed program here and find the same thing. The courses are rigorous and challenging and prepare you well for medical school, but there are definitely a lot of options if you are not 100% sure that being a doctor is what you want. If you decided that you could not handle or no longer wanted to continue with the Union/Albany medical college, consider the options that you might want to explore if that were the case.

Thanks snuffles, I am quite sure i want to be a Doctor. Does anyone else have any thoughts on these two choices?

Yep - I struggled with the same thing. I am also quite sure that I want to be a doctor, but I'm big on well-rounded educations and I know that my friends who are doing combined med programs are in the single discipline courses from Day 1...personally, I don't really want that. Also, I agree with snuffles that it may not be what I want to do in the long run. Granted, I've wanted to be a doctor since I was a little kid and my interest in the field has grown exponentially...you never know though.
AND...Tufts is just a really great school with an amazing reputation. The way I feel, I'm going to put in 4 years of UG at tufts and then a lot of grad schools offer programs that are year round and you can get done more quickly...thats the route i'm planning on pursuing.
