Tufts Vs Dartmouth???

what sayest thou, Ph0enix? ;)

There was really no "debate" to begin with. Arguing that Tufts is better or as good as Harvard is like arguing that you get more civil rights in Iran than you do in America - it's obviously untrue.

bluirinka - You definately did not make any "unwarrented attacks". In fact, you were too nice ;)

I'll leave you guys with a funny convo a friend of mine had with a Tufts admissions officer in the Tufts chat for admitted students. I blanked out both names for confidentiality.

(private message from xxxxAdmisOfficer)
xxxxAdmisOfficer: Are you from BLS?
xxxxxxxx: yes, do you remember me?
xxxxAdmisOfficer: ha! I read your app! I was very impressed... obviously
xxxxxxxx: ahah, cool
xxxxAdmisOfficer: Are you coming to open house?
xxxxxxxx: when is it? I might have conflicts
xxxxAdmisOfficer: You can come either April 20, 21, or 24. It will be awesome
xxxxxxxx: I'll try, but I am visiting Rice from the 20th-222nd, and then Harvard from 22nd-24th
<xxxxAdmisOfficer has disconnected>

Yes, yes. I know it could have been a technical error. But it's quite funny when you pair it up with the whole Tufts Syndrome thing. ;)

So after posting originally to find out true differences in Tufts and Dartmouth and ask for advice I discovered six pages of repetitive arguments. I truly appreciate all those who gave their honest opinion and were trying to help out but this post has been taken way too far.
There is a reason I am considering both Tufts and Dartmouth and didn’t immediately choose Dartmouth just because it was an Ivy League. To tell you all the truth I was originally turned off by the Ivy league stature because I feel that sometimes because they are deemed Ivy's they have a different air to them that did not appeal to me. Dartmouth was originally not a top option but after I got accepted I knew I had to consider it alongside Tufts because they were both so academically strong and had a good International Relations program. Both schools are academically excellent and I understand that I will get a great education at either institution. It is silly to compare their academic superiority to one another. They are completely different schools to me with and entirely different atmospheres.
In the past week I've been able to visit both campuses, attend classes, and talk to students. Its undeniable that they both have extremely intelligent students but their location and social life seem to be polar opposites. Students at both schools are very happy but that’s because the school fits them. They are all among the brightest students in the country and I am honored to be able to become a member of either institution.
I still have no idea which school to choose, as I had a great experience at both Tufts and Dartmouth. I will be making a tough decision in the next few weeks. Thank you to all who helped and replied! I would love any last words of advice. Thanks again~

haha I love the first two words of your post, MEC- ditto that.

Anyway I just wanted to reiterate how happy it makes me that the one person whose opinion mattered most throughout this post has such a great attitude on the college admissions process. I think the people quickly forgot that this post was about you and your college choices...and started going off into space about the least helpful things. Since these threads do not seem to be as productive as one might hope, feel free to PM me anytime if you have any questions.

Best of luck with your decision!

YES thank god MEC is awesome. I absolutely love love LOVE what you said about both Dart kids and Tufts kids being happy because the school fits them. You really hit the nail on the head; excellent way to phrase it! GOOD LUCK in your shoes I'd also have a tough time, even though Dartmouth was my first choice as I said earlier.
