Tufts vs Northeastern for Economics and Mathematics, international student

I got accepted by Tufts and Northeastern…no FA needed

What do you think? I will probably major in mathematics and economics. A big part for me is international reputation, since I am going to live in Europe after uni. I am an international student from Switzerland.

Thanks for your help.

If you were accepted to Tufts already, it would be through ED, no? So the only way to escape that is if they didn’t give you enough FA, of which you claim you don’t need. Just wondering.

To answer your question, Tufts is just an overall better school, I’d go there.

The OP has posted previously about how to get out of the ED agreement at Tufts and other CC’ers have slammed him for this.

Go to Tufts, you belong there.

thanks

More opinions?

Tufts.

Honestly I don’t know if the OP belongs there if he is still looking for ways to get out of the ED agreement…

I thought you resolved your decision between breaking your ED commitment to Tufts for a UK uni by deciding to go to Tufts? now you are adding in other US unis?

I don’t understand what you are asking on CC for. You haven’t said anything about why not Tufts, and if you are trying to work out whether Tufts or NEU is going to sound better in Europe, asking Americans isn’t likely to be that helpful.

But, whatever about breaking your ED to Tufts to go to a non-US college, to break it to go to another college just across town is not without risk: NEU can rescind your offer if they find out.

^^^That is why, as a Northeastern alumnus and booster, I am hoping that the OP goes to Tufts. Northeastern is better without him.

I have decided to go to Tufts and it is pretty clear that it is a better school than NEU in my eyes. I just posted this to see other opinions because I got accpeted by both unis. This is theoretical!!!

ENOUGH about not being trustful by breaking my ED contract…

Hypothetically, I’d go to Northeastern. If the job market in Switzerland is anything like the job market in the US or Germany, the additional work experience from the co-op programs would give you a significant leg up when you are looking for your first “real” job.

Northeastern also offers a much larger range of courses, made possible by its size. I learned the hard way how limiting small colleges can be if you want to focus (or “specialize”) in any particular sub-discipline of your major, instead of just taking whatever upper-level elective is offered that term.

Neither university has any sort of reputation in Europe (that I am aware of); you might as well drop that pretense.

Non-hypothetically, I would go to Tufts because I signed an ED agreement.

That is what I call a good answer!!! THANK YOU.

Actually Tufts has a pretty good reputation in Europe. At least within the important circle of people…

Closing thread since OP admits misrepresenting the situation and has already decided.
