If i'm looking into international relations/studies and/or history, etc. which school would offer the better programme(s)? Also, if I wanted to go to a top postgrad school (maybe overseas in the UK) which school would be better presented? (I get the feeling that they're both very similar). Both schools are very prestigious, so I wasn't very concerned about that...

Although both have good IR programs, I'd say Tufts IR is stronger, especially because of the Fletcher school.

I think that both are excellent schools; you aren't going to make a wrong decision. That's the good news. :)

If you are dead-set on IR, go to Tufts.

The schools have very different atmospheres; you could make your decision - and make it well - based on which school you prefer to be in for four years of your life. Williamsburg is beautiful, suburban, quaint, and historic; Somerville is right outside of Boston and has a lot of that ultimate-college-city energy. Both are undergrad focused; both are liberal. W&M is a state school - you'll get some issues, depending on how Virginia funds the school for the next four years. I've met some very talented people at Tufts, but they don't have the workaholic mentality of W&Mers. I've heard that most W&Mers are usually weeks ahead on their reading - there's kind of a gunning contest going on.

Depends on what you want. Heat? Sweltering summers and very little winter snow? Access to a city or a three-hour train ride to DC? Freakin cold winters but skiing a few hours away?

Both will put you in fantastic shape for grad school - no need to worry about that. Inquire somewhere about W&M grade deflation, though - I've heard rumours about that.

Thanks guys for your input. I appreciate it :)
