However I would like to find a scholarship that would enable me to minimize my travel expenses and the amount I have to pay out of pocket for a laptop. Any suggestions? I have entered the usual 'essay' contests on fastweb, however I never even recieve anything back usually (good or bad news).

Thank you.

Work fulltime during the summer and 10 hours a week or so during the school year, and you should be able to cover those remaining costs. The scholarships that you'll have the best chances of winning are local ones. Haunt your GC office to learn about them.

NSmom is right -- those local scholarships are your best bet. They are usually for smaller amounts -- just right for covering the cost of a laptop and books.

Problem is that my campus is 'unique' in that there are no job on campus outside of running the farm, which is a full time job in-itself. I recently got two part-time jobs to help, however I was just curious as to if there were any other scholarships for me to gush over.

Thank you for the help regarding my guidance counselor, I will certainly pursue that.
