Tuition Bill

The bill for the tuition just got sent out, and I just have a question about the "Less Anticipated Fin Aid" before I get too eager. This line deducted my bill by a certain amount but I was not awarded this amount. When I go to my Fin Aid history, there aren't any new awards, just the ones that I had which still add up to less than the anticipated amount. I know it's called an anticipated amount, but why does the system let me pay the bill with the deduction from this amount even though it looks like I haven't even acquired those award amounts?

I have a question about this as well… The payment deadline is the tenth, but isn’t that before we get our financial aid (I think I heard it will be released “about” ten days before school starts)? I don’t think I would be able to pay what I have to pay without financial aid, so I’m a bit confused…

I think you pay the amount “less financial aid”, and then financial aid is applied after the deadline. My memory could be wrong though… I think that’s what happened last year.

Sophomore here.

So I had to pay my tuition a while back and by that time my financial aid wasn’t even available. I emailed the Financial Aid office and was said, “look people, I don’t have this kind of money!” And so they offered me a ‘‘Tuition Loan’’ under the finances tab on UT Direct. That’s what I had to use and then when I got my actual financial aid, it deducted that from it.

Yep.

Thanks for the responses. Well I don’t have an issue paying this off, like I said the anticipated fin aid line is much larger than my actual awards in my history. I just don’t want to get my hopes up but am I supposed to be expecting an increase in my awards amount equal or at least close to the anticipated? I am paying it off soon but what if my anticipated turns out to be higher than what I get?
