Tuition Exchange - Fall 2019 Apps for Fall 2020 Frosh

S20 only applied for TE at two schools, WPI and Lafayette. Admitted to WPI in Dec, but waiting until April for TE. Lafayette gives all regular decisions in March, TE+admissions at the same time.

Applied to 9 TE schools. Admitted to 5 and waiting to hear about admittance from 3. TE from 1. No rejections yet. Hearing that many TE decision will come in March.

We applied to about 10 and received a NO from U Tampa. Still waiting on the rest.

@alogan Just FYI in case you didnt know this. I contacted U Tampa to learn more about TE. I got a friendly email back that explained that it’s a first come first served basis. So the first students to be admitted and submit TE paperwork get it. They were even advising for my junior daughter to submit TE paperwork now! Our home school won’t do so before Dec senior year so this wasnt even an option. I never heard of such a thing but thought I’d pass this info on!

Thanks, @realmmom!!

Popping in for our final update on this thread (at least with regard to my D20’s status - I’ll still be around to cheer everyone else on).

D20 has accepted the TE offer and will be attending Simmons University. We went for an accepted student event this past weekend and it sealed the deal.

I notified the 2 other schools where she had TE offers this morning - happy those offers can be freed up and offered to other students nice and early.

Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear from their chosen schools!!!

@DeeCee36 congrats on your Daughter’s decision- so much to look forward to!
And thanks for your thoughtfulness letting TE know early on!!
Best wishes!

Congrats to all!

@DeeCee36… I tried leveraging her other TE but they only pitched in another $1,000. Very frustrating. We went for accepted students day and she loved it. First time I saw her smile. They are one of the weird ones that gives TE to upperclassmen preference to incoming freshman (thanks for confirmation of that @alogan) so not sure it’s worth the gamble. May 2 can’t come fast enough. Thanks @RealMom and … good advice.

@maleitag follow up question for them…what percentage of upperclassmen who apply receive it? If it is a high percentage and you can swing the first two years (especially while you’re EFC is based on 2 students), could be worth the gamble.

Hoping May 2 brings you good news!

@dsmmom I am currently a high school junior looking at the schools that you son was also looking at. May I ask where he ended up going? And why he chose to go there?

I am dying over here, waiting to hear back from any of the TE schools that D20 applied to.

That is all. Carry on.

@VryCnfsd - I hear ya. Its been a very quiet Feb in our house. Hopefully things start popping in March.

ohmygosh YES! Bring on March and some actual communication from the schools!

Thought I should share this here:
I applied to 6 TE schools: GWU, AU, Pitt, Boston, Richmond, and Villanova. I applied EA only to Villanova, and was deferred with a 1450/4.0. I received the tuition exchange scholarship for Pitt, and am waiting to hear back from the rest of the schools. I’m very surprised that I received the scholarship for Pitt given its competitive nature, and very thankful.

Does anyone know any stats about TE for UF, my daughter was just accepted there but Im worried that TE is a very LONG Shot, but can’t seem to find any information. She emailed the FA office last week.

The TE site says it awards below 10%. Not sure how accurate that info is, though.

I would reach out to the TE liaison, rather than FA.

Will do, thanks @DeeCee36

Has anyone heard back about t.e. from Tulane or Delaware? The tuition exchange liaison at Tulane emailed me that students would hear back in late February but my son has not heard anything yet.

My daughter was put on waiting list at U Delaware for TE.
