@alogan when did she hear from them?
@mjsemom , just yesterday.
just heard back from UF- they have 230 students and 5 spots for TE. UGH!!
Received a letter from Syracuse confirming her certification for TE. She has not yet heard if she’s been admitted. One thing I didn’t know – the letter said it would stack TE with merit up to the cost of total tuition.
@realmmom Your daughter’s stat is competitive for USC (Southern California), which is one of the TE schools. I put this up at USC forum three years ago, but hopefully this information can be useful for future TE eligible students/parents.
My S was a NMSF (then NMF) and was admitted to USC with TE. It turns out that USC stacks TE (80% tuition for our family) and NMF (Presidential scholarship, 1/2 tuition ), giving our family a very generous package. Basically, if your D or S is a NMSF and admitted to USC with TE, USC will give full tuition + $8,000 (stacking the two). Moreover, as a NMF, my S received $1,000/year from National merit corporation and USC further provided $2000/year called “University Scholarship.”
So to sum up, USC covered full tuition plus housing (about $9K-10K) and 1K extra for various fees. In junior and senior years, he opted for a minimal meal plan, and we paid close to nothing to USC. The only caveat is that S or D will have to live on campus for all 4 years as USC will not cover for off-campus housing. He will be graduating this May and he/we couldn’t have been happier with USC.
Good news here. Daughter direct admit to Syracuse Whitman School of Business. Very proud. Received 38K TE and work-study. She’s glad she can get a little job on campus for pocket money. Hard decisions to be made, and worried admitted student days will be cancelled.
Lafayette admit just came in the mail today (yay!) – with ZERO mention of TE one way or another (huh?) Anyone else?
Another thought: Lafayette candidate portal says decisions will be available online tomorrow (3/24) at 4pm…perhaps all will be revealed then?
There was ZERO mention of any merit money or anything in the paper admit package sent in the mail. WPI, UConn, and Quinnipiac all offered up significant merit money, so it’s hard to believe S20 wouldn’t be thrown any bone whatsoever…
TE waitlisted for Loyola and U Delaware!! Accepted into honors for both.
If I was a spring admit at USC, can I still get tuition exchange?
@lalachicken55 My colleague’s son was also a Spring admit 4 years ago. I think she said that he would get TE but he ended up going elsewhere. I would ask USC and confirm.
@alogan my colleague’s s19 was waitlisted for TE at Delaware last year. Committed May 1 and found out in August that he got TE. ?
S20 on TE waitlist for Layfayette. Still awaiting on TE decision at WPI and admit decision from non-TE Northeastern. These are his top three schools but he would be hard-pressed to chose an absolute #1.
The waiting game continues…
Hi Everyone! Mom of 2 TE Freshman from 2019 stopping by to congratulate all the successful TE applicants for Fall 2020 Freshmen! Thanks to @wallyworldjb for starting this active TE thread. I’ve been following it and cheering you all on. Getting TE for four years is like getting a $150K+ winning lottery ticket. Enjoy it.
I second the call by @realmmom and practice by @SLUProf (et moi) to post your final results with date of notification and kids’ stats to crowd-source hard to get information for future applicants. Don’t be shy–all the info is useful and it’s data, not bragging (at least not primarily ).
I am writing to see if anyone on this thread has heard back yet from University of Southern California about their TE award for Fall 2020 Freshmen. Last year, the notifications were very late on April 9, 2019 and no one on the dedicated USC TE thread for this year’s apps has reported back any notifications. Has any USC TE applicant for Fall 2020 admission heard back from USC yet?
It’s very annoying that USC is one of the last to notify its students. What other TE colleges have yet to report any notifications? Who is still waiting for initial notification from a school?
Hey @CollegeOdyssey2001 thanks for doing your part to increase the crowd-source information! I agree that right now there is so little out there! As a reminder, here is the data that I collected. It is getting a little bit old now, so if anyone wants to help update it, that would be great!

Hi! We are still waiting to hear from Sacred Heart and Fairfield. Fingers crossed! Hopefully we will hear by next week!
My son ending up receiving TE at Richmond, Delaware, Pitt, Tulane and American. He was waitlisted for TE at Elon and BU (received $26,000 merit at BU). BU only gives out 10 and I believe Elon gives out three but it covers full tuition. Delaware and Pitt TE would have been full tuition. Richmond and American awarded the set rate. Tulane awarded $41,000. He received a full scholarship including room and board at another school so he has informed all the TE schools that he will not be accepting their TE scholarship. We were very happy with how the TE process went even though he ended up being able to accept a better merit offer that was not TE related.
@mjsemom - congratulations to your son! Very impressive.
My dd just rec’d full tuition offer for Delaware after being on waiting list for a week or so.
She has already committed to FSU.
@DeeCee36 thank you!
