I am wondering if anyone has experience with the Tuition Exchange process. We were told to cast a wide net which we did ,but just wondering when is the earliest we can expect to hear from these colleges?
Congratulations and best of luck going through the Tuition Exchange process. Yes, it is competitive, but it seems your daughter will be well-positioned to receive a TE scholarship at 1 or more of your schools listed. We went through the process in 2019-20 with our oldest son and his GPA was probably about 3.9, with an SAT score of 1330. What we found is that you want to apply for TE at the schools where your child is at the top of the middle 50% SAT range. Also, focus on the schools that give scholarship to 11-40% (or more) of the applicants. For our son, he received TE offers from Syracuse University, St. Joseph’s University (Philadelphia) and Depaul University (Chicago). He had already committed to St. Joseph’s University and we paid our deposit. Then, late MAY, we found out that he received the DePaul University TE scholarship - this was his first choice! So, we lost our $400 deposit to St. Joseph’s University and committed to DePaul. He has been happy with his choice. He loves Chicago - last year was tough, because classes were remote, but this year things are in person. Nevertheless, just realize that you may receive a last minute decision from schools - as late as May or even June. Be prepared to change directions at the last minute.
Currently, we are going through the process with our 2nd son (who is also 17). His stats are very similar to your daughter’s, with his SAT score being 1260. So, again, we are aiming for the schools where he is at the upper end of the middle 50% SAT range. Additionally, he has applied for an ROTC scholarship and he is very into varsity sports.
We hope to receive TE offers from 1-2 schools. Fingers crossed!
Congratulations! You’ve made it - your schools are submitted. Now, the waiting begins!
How are club sports at depaul?
Unsure, as our oldest son is not a team sport athlete.
Son was just awarded tuition exchange from Western New England University- such a pleasant surprise hearing so early.
I started a post about Tuition Exchange for the 2022 HS Seniors (Class of 2026) a couple of months back, si it might be helpful for you!
