I didn’t realize some institutions use years of service.
I had heard that but hopefully it is a small percentage. Perhaps it is used when they have a large amount of TE requests but only a few spots?
Just found out my daughter got in DePaul. Did anyone else apply there? This is another one we haven’t visited but my daughter really seems to like from the research she has done.
S24 just got his acceptance as well. Plus 27k/year scholarship.
Congrats!
I think she may have received that merit as well. I haven’t looked at it yet.
Yes, I know of one school that has used the criteria in the past. But I don’t know if they still use it.For some schools the criteria change year to year.
Looks like last year DePaul sent out TE decisions 3/22. How will we wait until Feb, March and April for these decisions
Also, if you haven’t read last years thread I highly suggest it. Lot of great info. I have read it like 3 times and every time I find out something new. One thing that they did which I thought was great was declining TE when they had decided not to attend a school. That way others would have a chance at it. It does seem like there are very few spots and many apply to the same schools. I will make sure we do that if we end up getting TE and decided not to take it. With that being said I really hope we get at least one offer of TE.
Congrats on the DePaul acceptances! When did your students apply?
I think mine applied early October.
I think he applied end of September.
My daughter was accepted to DePaul as well. She applied at the end of October. We haven’t visited either…
Congrats! We may try to visit in January. I would think the weather at that time might give us an idea how cold it gets
Lol! I told my daughter something similar. Chicago winters certainly are cold and windy! Also, I just saw an email that DePaul will provide TE notification by 3/15z
Thanks, that is good to know about the 3/15 date
It’s December 3rd and I can’t handle waiting already
S24’s top 2 choices are Duquesne and Seton Hall, but I’m concerned that he won’t get TE. He is admitted at both already.
Applied to 10 TE schools, applied to my employer for TR (but super competitive for grades), and 3 state schools.
Seems like there are a lot of us looking at Seton Hall!
I hear you. It will be a long wait.
I think Seton Hall is pretty good about giving TE. My daughter and her good friend have both been accepted to Seton Hall and both are trying for TE. I hope they both get it but that might be asking a lot.
What majors for seton hall are everyone’s kids applying? Mine is direct admit PA and I’m not 100% clear on when the TE stops since it’s a 3+ program but you’re not technically done undergrad when starting the grad school classes. I asked them but they didn’t reply
Thanks for starting this thread! Does anyone know how much extra-curricular activity plays into TE decisions? My D24 has okay stats, test optional with 3.6UW/3.9W, but her extra curriculars are exceptional (10 varsity letters, captain and MVP of multiple sports, editor of yearbook, NHS, German NHS, Art NHS, VP of 4H club, multiple awards and accolades for art and photography, etc). Her letters of rec are very good as well. Will any of that factor in to the TE decisions? Or is it all based on gpa and test scores? TIA!
I think it all depends on the school. Have you checked out each school on the TE portal to see what percentage of awards they give?
My D24 applied to business. I am not sure about her friend.
