@MAandMEmom We are in a similar boat with a 2021 athlete. Did you learn anything from your official visit on how TE is handled? Was TE eligibility an important draw for the coach? Thanks!
@Kuergen nope nothing yet, but based on my son’s experience, the notification for TE is very late. I may know more next month if a TE school begins to exert pressure to commit. I do wonder if a strong athlete will get athletic dollars with the coach’s hope down the road it could be partially replaced with TE. I think this may be a draw for a coach if the student is especially competitive academic (i.e. about the 75% stats-wise).
@MAandMEmom Thanks and good luck! Did you get the sense the coaches even knew what is was and valued it?
Coaches would know what it is because the coach, as staff, might be eligible for TE for themselves or their own kids.
@momtogirls2 TE=Tuition Exchange
Tuition Exchange (TE) is a reciprocal scholarship opportunity for the dependents of eligible faculty and staff at all Tuition Exchange member schools.
Yes @kuergen the coach knew about TE. Places that rely on part-time coaches may not know about it I would imagine. It’s hard to know in what seems like a quiet time if they will try to use it to their advantage and offer less athletic dollars.
