A couple days after our S got accepted, he received a merit scholarship letter (non-need based award independent of filing the FAFSA). This was all back in December. If you filed the FAFSA, I believe SU will start sending financial letters around mid-March…maybe any day now. I’ve heard SU is very generous with aid, but it’s also an expensive college…all relative. Good luck with scholarships and aid.

I was accepted back in December and received my merit-based financial package within a couple of weeks. Judging by the package, SU was generous.

We must be doing something wrong. After logging in the only option given is to accept the scholarship award. There is no link for the need based financial aid determined by SU from the FAFSA. Any tips?

Not sure about the need-based awards. I haven’t received one from SU since I filed the FAFSA. Did you get notification yet? Should come via mail/letter soon. I received letters from two other schools last week.

inaloi was right, you can check it online. Click the tab for students and there should be a link under financial information, “Financial Aid Award Letter.” After clicking on that, click on the year that you will be enrolling.

I didn’t get enough money, but still, I guess I’ll settle for it rather than nothing.
*edit: I just calculated the money, they actually met all my need, but more of it was loans than I wanted it to be.

LawlzS : Yeah, I was definitely worried, loans would make a majority of my aid award. But, at least your aid was met, it surely is better than nothing!

D got her letter yesterday. She got the Trustees scholarship and $1000 alumni scholarship 'cause half her relatives went there. The rest was grants. All of her need was met, but it includes $7500 in loans and $3000 in work study…a lot if you extend that out 4 years!
