Tuition? Financial Aid?

I recently got accepted to Seattle University. My Financial Aid package hasn't come yet, but I'm starting to get real worried.

Does anyone have an idea if Seattle U is generous in giving aid? Or might you know anything else about how much aid can be rewarded?

Thank you so much.

A couple days after our S got accepted, he received a merit scholarship letter (non-need based award independent of filing the FAFSA). This was all back in December. If you filed the FAFSA, I believe SU will start sending financial letters around mid-March…maybe any day now. I’ve heard SU is very generous with aid, but it’s also an expensive college…all relative. Good luck with scholarships and aid.

if you go to suonline to the student section you can view your financial aid award letter.

And you can also see their merit guidelines and calculators here:

I was accepted back in December and received my merit-based financial package within a couple of weeks. Judging by the package, SU was generous.

We must be doing something wrong. After logging in the only option given is to accept the scholarship award. There is no link for the need based financial aid determined by SU from the FAFSA. Any tips?

Not sure about the need-based awards. I haven’t received one from SU since I filed the FAFSA. Did you get notification yet? Should come via mail/letter soon. I received letters from two other schools last week.

inaloi was right, you can check it online. Click the tab for students and there should be a link under financial information, “Financial Aid Award Letter.” After clicking on that, click on the year that you will be enrolling.

I didn’t get enough money, but still, I guess I’ll settle for it rather than nothing.
*edit: I just calculated the money, they actually met all my need, but more of it was loans than I wanted it to be.

Lawlz-Thanks, I never would have thought to access it that way. Now we can plan for the visit day.

Lawlz - Thank you. Just checked MySU account and the letter was there. I was only offered a small loan so I feel lucky for the merit award.

Thank you everyone for your help!

LawlzS : Yeah, I was definitely worried, loans would make a majority of my aid award. But, at least your aid was met, it surely is better than nothing!

Thanks again, everyone, for your input!

I got A LOT in loans, but a lot more in grants/scholarships.
Im going to see if a summer job can get rid of most of my loans.

my financial aid came through yesterday. it looks like over half of my tuition is covered in grants/scholarships, which is definitely a relief.

D got her letter yesterday. She got the Trustees scholarship and $1000 alumni scholarship 'cause half her relatives went there. The rest was grants. All of her need was met, but it includes $7500 in loans and $3000 in work study…a lot if you extend that out 4 years!
