<p>You might check the service academy websites, as of a few years ago each matriculating cadet/midshipman had to come up with about $2500 before showing up for i-day. The money was to cover some of the expenses with their plebe summer and plebe year…uniforms, computer, gear… If you did not have the funds upfront you would be offered a loan for the amount, to be paid back off over time.</p>

Interviews with MOCs, interviews with service liason, physical fitness tests, medical exams (height, weight, color blindness, asthma, meds for ADD/ADHD), eye exams, LORs, essays, SATs esp. high Math scores…process can take from 8-12 months.</p>
