tuition hike?

does any one know about the tuition hike department based, how much it is for tuitions and how much overall?

the increase affects part-time students more because they want people to get in, and get out. i don't have numbers for you though, sorry, but I believe the increase was like 4-5% per year for 2 years?

wow I just got a letter about the tuition. It is increasing dramatically for OOS students, especially business students. This year an OOS business student paid $18,500 a year. Next year it will be $22,500 and the year after $28,500! Thats a huge increase. Almost 30% a year. Factor in room and board and its practically the same price as Ivies. That is not going to sit well with attracting students to choose McCombs.

Is there going to be a similar hike for science majors?

Everything is going way up for OOS students. Natural Sciences is going to be 21k for the year next year, and 25,200 for the year after according to the letter I got.

wow- I was leaning toward Texas over Michigan because of the difference in tuition. At $28,500 it's the same cost as Michigan. I have not received any letters or a fin'l aid packages yet (hopefully a scholarship offer). Our as Tom Cruise said in Risky Business "looks like I'm going to Illinios"

unless ur instate then its still real cheap

Stupid Texas is going to lose a lot of good prospective students, including myself (maybe).

:(:(:(:(:(

Word to that niyantha.

tipperian, I may be one as well. My parents aren't too thrilled with the huge increase. It really hurt to get that letter.

If I do part-time work do I become eligible for in-state tuition? Like if i get that work study program thing. Has anyone got their fin aid offers yet?

My question is why did they wait so long to send us the new rates. I guess better than finding out once I get there. There is also no indication of what the rate may be for 2008-2010.
I wonder how many of us OOS are now looking at other schools due to this increase that are already paid there fees.
Financial aid said all awards should be posted tomorrow.

Well, UT Austin is making me consider University of York and the University of Melbourne now. Its depressing.

Has anyone else received this letter? (I'm not questioning your claim dodgerblue, just checking)

Because this sucks (as an international)

Will they send this letter to everyone?

I received the letter yesterday. It was dated 4/5/06, it was sent to all OOS students. If you go onto UT's web site on the main page there is a link.
I agree it sucks for everyone not from Texas

does in state tuition stay the same?

in state tuition is increasing yearly...not as much as OOS but if your family has low income, like myself....every little bit hurts

I'm pretty sure tuition increases are different for each income bracket.

Am I the only one upset about the increase in OOS tuition. 2007-2008 =$28,500, there is no indication of what 2008-2010 will be.
Don't get me wrong I love the school, but for almost $40,000 a year for school and don't know if I love it that much (or can afford to love it)
This is killing me because I was ready to enroll. Michigan and Texas have been my top choices - parents said Michigan too much $$$ and Texas was only $5,000 than U of Illinois. Now Michigan and Texas are the same money. I think now my choices are between U of I and Miami.
