UVA has announced their increase partly due to to this new charter status deal. Has W & M given any hints as to how their costs will increase? UVA's instate is going up by $580 and OOS by $1400.

william and mary said that its going up by 8%

we all gor,

got a source for that? Just wondering, I haven't heard anything definite, though it's obviously going up. Not that it matters to me b/c i'm on VA prepaid plan...

the tuition at UVA, Tech, and W&M will continue to rise. If they get working fast enough, the charters should start going into place next year.

"If the state achieves that goal, we estimate that tuition increases can be held to an average of 8 percent per annum. The key to affordability is keeping the state in the game, said Gamage."

not exactly a firm statement, but its probably a good guess. Curiously the out of state for UVA is a lower percentage-

"This fall, undergraduate Virginians will pay $7,180 in tuition and fees, an 8.8 percent increase over fall 2004. They will see their total cost of education including tuition, fees, housing and dining increase by 7.9 percent over the previous year.
Non-Virginians will pay 6.2 percent more in tuition and fees, for a total of $24,100. Their total bill, including dining and housing, will increase by 6.3 percent."

UVA is probably going up more for out of state b/c the other schools those students will be considering are higher priced

instate is going up at 7.9 versus out-of-state which is 6.3, so it's less. I would have assumed the opposite, especially since UR had such a monstrous increase this year.

wow I ruined that didn't I... let's try again:

The in state tuition is probably going up more b/c the education level will still be a huge bargain compared to out of state schools of the same quality.

heh

here's the info:
http://www.wm.edu/news/?id=4448

7.8 increase instate
5.3 out of state

could have been worse.
