Tuition Reduction Scholarship!

I got one. $229 per credit hour, which is ~$28,000 total

Any of my other OOS homies get one?

my son got a 50% reduction for oos status.
Not sure what that breaks down to per credit hour tho.

Out of state tuition and fees if enrolled after 7/1/07 is currently $633.06 per credit.

This may be a dumb question but do all OOS students receive a reduction in tuition?

I would think so. Here's my reasoning:

If they didn't, there would be a big chance that OOSers wouldn't matriculate to FSU because they can't afford it.

Since they do, it makes it more reasonable for OOSers to afford it. So now FSU gets 7k a year instead of 0.

a friend of mine claims she didn't get it.

and I got a postcard in the mail that said there would be 200 of these scholarships given out. Anyone know the validity of that?

FSU could not make ends meet if all OOS students got large tuition reductions!! Congrats to those who did! They don't give many out. They even talked this year about increasing OOS admissions to be able to collect the OOS tuition. The tuition reductions are usually for smart kids and talented kids admitted via auditions.

Bump.

Do the tuition reductions come in different sizes? Like rsx said his came for $229 off, but the next poster said they got half tuition off.

Did anyone get their rates completely down to IS rates? IS rates right now are dirt cheap, like less than $5 grand for tuition!

A tuition reduction and the $9600 scholarship are as good as the money is going to get for an OOS kid, correct?

thanks

The higher the GPA and the higher the scores, the more likely you are to get a tuition reduction scholarship. And if you apply to one of the limited access majors like dance, and you have great talent, again you are more likely to get a reduction. Given the budget problems of many states and their U’s, Universities are making up for shortages by taking more OOS students who pay full freight.
