When I was applying to colleges, I asked my parents if I should apply for financial aid. My parents told me that we will not qualify for aid. After about 2 months I got my acceptance letter for NYU. When I went to discuss the tuition fees with my parents, the first thing they said was "It's too expensive". I told them that they should have let me fill the FAFSA form and they said that we will not get any aid. Because I have 3 siblings who will attend college within 2 years, I think that I can get some aid. I just finished my FAFSA and will send it to NYU Financial Aid Office. What can I do now other than wait. I applied for a few scholarships and researched a few loans.
Any solutions other than attending a state school?

bump........

just to let you know, i seriously doubt theyll give you any financial aid. the form was due way too long ago.

You might get aid (depending on what your family's income and savings are) the year your sibling enters college, meaning that both of you are attending at the same time.

NYU is known for its lousy endowment and financial aid. So even if you had filed the FAFSA on time, that doesn't mean you would be getting money.

What are your other college choices?

NYU has a priority date for the FAFSA, but no "due date". If you go to the financial aid website, it encourages you to submit the FAFSA even if you missed the priority deadline.

true, but they said that you dont get priority if its late (i emailed them earlier cuz i had thought mine was going to be late). and considering all the finaid packages are out, i seriously doubt theres any left, seeing as how they base how much they offer on the people that actually submitted, oh, before the packages were out.
