Tuition/Sports/Financial Aid

If you can not afford to go to the university of penn can going there to play football save you money? I was just curious if any ivy league schools give you money for athletics. Also, how does financial aid work at places like penn? how much money can you save by using financial aid?

ANY help would be appreciated

ACT-30 (hopefully retake and get 32)
Class Rank-1/307

Activities- Football, Baseball, National Honor Society, MYC, Big Brothers Big Sisters

ivy schools don’t do athletic scholarships (or merit scholarships), so you would only be eligible for financial aid based on your ability to pay

if your family income level is sufficiently low, you’ll be eligible for scholarships to cover the majority of your costs, but if you’re more middle class, you may need to take out loans if grants will not be enough

i come from more of a middle class family. My father and mother make a total income of around 150,000 a year, but that money will not be used for me schooling. Is there anyways for me to afford a college like this?

unless your family demonstrates a significant need to which that money needs to go (such as healthcare, or something similarly critical), i don’t think you’ll get much in the way of need-based financial aid that way

though if your situation is unique, you might get lucky? just apply if you’re interested in being here…

thank you fire. I just wish my parents didn’t make so much! grrrrrrrr

Does anyone else think i have chances?

i think you have a good chance if you’re being seriously recruited

they say that if youre admitted, they will try and make sure that you can afford to attend with good fin aid packages…mine was pretty good

They say it’s all need based but I have talked to coaches that say that they can actually go to financial aid to ask for better packages if another ivy gives you more money so that they’re more competitive when it comes to recruiting you. So, if you’re a really good athlete, don’t worry about the price of college.
