Tuition thing

Hello everybody, I have question.

I am a student at a community college.(LaGuardia in NY, CUNY). I applied to transfer to City College for this fall, and got accepted. However, I changed my mind and decided to stay here this Fall and Graduate. But, when I filled my TAP application, I put City College as my college. Now, I see that I have no pending financial aid, which means that I should pay by myself. Last year, all my tuition was covered by financial aid, and nothing significant changed in my FAFSA and TAP forms. Last night, I checked TAP, and changed City College with LaGuardia. But, the deadline for payment is tomorrow.

Do you think the college entry mistake at Tap form is the reason, and should I wait to see if they will cover my tuition again? I am afraid that my classes would be dropped or something. (Also, I got a $1,000 during the Spring term, which, as I see now is applied to my tuition. I expected that the tuition would be covered, and I get extra $1,000)

Thanks for help!

Ask the school if you should pay now or wait for financial aid. Tell them that you just changed the school in your TAP to LaGuardia.

Thanks for the reply.

This is what happened: Today I paid $800 due. They told me that I would get $1,200 from TAP at the end of the semester.

It is strange. I got a scholarship of $1,000 in April. I thought I would get a check. Instead, it amounted to the tuition bill. Also, I got a ‘Miscellaneous scholarship’ of $500 for which I didn’t apply. The deduction just appeared at my account. Last year, all my tuition expenses were covered, and in addition I received extra money from TAP. This year, when nothing significantly changed in my and my parents earnings, and when I got this scholarship, I actually pay more.

Could it be that it all cam from the TAP application mistake?

You cannot receive TAP for more than tuition.

For example:
Your tuition is $2000

You have an estimated TAP award of $2000
You receive a LaGuardia Foundation Scholarship of $1000 which is applied to your tuition.
the maximum tap you will receive is $1000 to cover the balance of your tuition

Okay. I was wrong. I didn’t mean check from TAP, but from Federal Pell Grant, which I didn’t receive this year.
