Tulane 2025- financial aid?

@pishicaca - curious if you know, but not on Tulane website, and have a query into FAO…

So it looks like the you were right, need-based aid was positively impacted by having 2 children in college (thank goodness!), and almost EXACTLY to the formula of 50%.

However, much of the increase is in “Federal Work Study”. Do you (or does anybody) know whether that amount is guaranteed in terms of hours. Also, it seems like a LOT of hours for a 1st year student trying to get their bearings. My math comes out to ~20/hours a week @ minimum wage. That’s too much!

It is neither guaranteed nor required. You should continue with your inquiry to the FAO to see specifically how Tulane handles it with regard to matching students to positions. Each school has its own policies around this issue.

When I was in school, I took advantage of it and worked 10 hours a week which was a manageable load for me to be able to focus on school and also have a semblance of a social life.

If your student chooses not to participate or works fewer hours and earns less than the amount in the package, that gap will need to be paid.

Has anyone else who was accepted EA not received a FA package yet? I’m wondering if I should call…

hey, I haven’t received my package either. I assume they might still be working on getting out packages for ED people.

Yes, typically they work in order from ED1, then ED2, and then EA… Please keep in mind that Tulane is a little bit more “go fish”, in that you (or your child) have to go fishing through the Gibson portal to determine whether they need additional documentation. So even though you may have already submitted FAFSA and CSS Profiles, they might still require full tax returns and/or supporting W-2s. You wouldn’t know this (i.e. won’t get an email) unless you go to the Financial Aid tab, and further to the “To Do” tab. From there, it can take a few days. Just make sure to be as proactive as possible to push things back to their court. After I uploaded those docs, I followed up with our rep to confirm it was received the following day.

Also keep in mind that there are/were many folks who just managed to submit their FAFSA/CSS as it was due by Feb 15, so they’re likely feeling the crush now
