Tulane Admissions Regular Decision Fall 2022

Tulane RD basically unattainable this year. They clearly had filled up all their slots.

Son has Act 36/gpa 4.0uw at a top 5 stem high school in the nation/ 10 AP (5’s), 5 honors, and 16 dual enrolled college classes. National merit scholar. International awards, lots of service work, deep EC’s, fun essays. Tulane legacy x 7, including through me. RD: Tulane waitlist

Fortunately he has other options higher on his list, but if Tulane is waitlisting kids like him then it is because they are playing yield games to strong-arm people into early commitments, and have no intention of a legitimate RD round.

Totally. My counselor said it is almost impossible to get in RD

I read only 1-2 percent

S22 got rejected from Tulane.
OOS - Citizen but schooling done mostly in India
Pre Med Bio Engineering Major
GPA - UW 3.9 / Weighted 4.8
5 A Levels
6 Honors Level
SAT Optional
Applied to RD

So far got acceptance from UC Davis, Wisconsin Madison, Penn State, Baylor and yet to hear from four more. Looking very much like the choice would be UCD due to highly ranked Bio Pre med majors there.

We really liked Tulane, but I’ll be steering my youngest child away from applying when it’s her turn.

The RD Acceptance rate was around 1-2% for the class of 2025. WOuld have saved us a lot of time, If I had known before. I would do the same as you for my younger son as well.

But even with 1-2% acceptance, not one person here was accepted ?

Someone on reddit was accepted

24 people on ZeeMee were accepted

I don’t know what to think, I don’t believe they are gonna accept anyone from the waitlist

Tulane tried to muscle EA applicants to convert to ED2- despicable tactic to take away options for students ( in my opinion)

Agreed. It really turned us off.

DD waitlisted after EA deferral.
Hi-stat 4.0UW and tons EC’s - TO kid.
She is not going to take spot on WL since she likes her other admit options (and other WL options) better. The whole push to ED2 was definitely distasteful to her and felt too “sales-y” and once that deadline passed, radio silence from Tulane.

D22 was deferred from EA. Now waitlisted

1570 SAT
3.96 UW
ECs are mostly STEM and Performing arts

Other acceptances: Williams, Amherst, Rice, Emory, Harvey Mudd, Tufts, Wesleyan, Vassar, Colgate, Kenyon, Grinnell

Tulane was supposed to be a safety and it was the only school she didn’t get into. Lol.

deferred EA, now waitlisted. I’m declined my offer.

Great students go to Tulane, but the school has clearly prioritized yield over all other considerations. They do not seem interested in students who might choose a different university, no matter the qualifications.

Probably a trend in schools around its tier. It will give them nice yield and rejection selectivity marks, but their only superstar students will be the ones that chose Tulane from the beginning.

No offense but I don’t think a school with a 9% acceptance rate is considered a safety for anyone.

I agree!! We blindly followed the Scoir scattergram that put it as a safety/target for her. Definitely not a safety school!

Congratulations to all those who will be attending in the Fall. It’s a great school and the city has so much to offer

Or just have her apply early action

At a Fall info session our AO told everyone how important it was to apply EA. Surprisingly he did not do a hard sell on ED.

I think Tulane wants kids for whom Tulane is a top choice. If kids have too high stats, they may think those kids will go elsewhere and aren’t that serious about Tulane.
