I know Tulane has an agressive marketing/recruitment program to entice qualified applicants early in the application game (discussed before as their "cherry-picking" or personal application inviatation policy etc...)

I know they also give a lot in merit aid, my daughter just received a "presidential scholarship" with $24,000 and an invitation to the honors program.

Problem is...I can't find any definition for their "presidential Scholars"

On the link for their current merit awards, it's unlisted (can't paste the link...is it against CC policy?)

Is this a new award? Both the amount and name don't seem to match anything I can find on it? ....it's all good to me though

My D was awarded that same scholarship back in 2004 (she ended up elsewhere though). I could be wrong but thought I recalled info about it in the financial aid section? She went to the invited Honors student weekend and very nearly went there even though Tulane was originally about 5th on her list. It rapidly moved into 2nd place.

S is there now (unfortunately without the big bucks scholarship) and loves being in NOLA.

Thanks, obviously it's a phenominal angle, they send the "quick personal no-fee apps" these smart kids think "what the heck? It's followed up by a quick "you're in" and Here's the money!!!! And you're absolutely right, all of a sudden mentally it goes from 5 on the list to WHY not????? The incoming freshman stats are still VERY high, no doubt this financially enticement is working.

They DO have something on the financial web site, but nothing for the "presidential schlolarship ($24,000) Just another (I think the amount was $22,000 or "up to $22,000".

Glad to here your son is liking the Big (not so ) Easy!
