I'm planning to apply to Tulane Early Action. I'm on Step Two of their application, but I don't want to submit it until as late as possible, since I want to make sure all my responses are good. So does anyone know how many parts there are to the application and what each describes? Because I don't want to send Step Two like a week before the deadline and then realize that there's like ten more steps.

My D applied there last year. I thought it was a VERY short one.

However, if last year is a guide, that’s probably one you want to get in fairly early. My recollection is that the standards for admissions seemed to get higher for the later EA – the thought was that once they accept a certain number they tighten up.

However, that may just be another College Confidential urban legand.

I just submitted mine. After step 2, you are finished.

Does the application require any essays?

Last year – one “optional” essay. Some of us believe that for this purpose, the definition of “optional” is “mandatory”, though Ad Ops in some schools have said this isn’t so.

The personal statement is required. There’s also an optional Why Tulane essay.

In years past, I would think if you didn’t put the optional essay, it would be an automatic rejection unless the student had perfect 36 act/ 4.0+ stats.
