btw…FC, you made me very nervous with your “hmmm, her case seems like a close call to me…” lol
 Thanks for all your input on cc…you keep us sane!

Got accepted to Tulane with a 22k Founders Scholarship. Happy about acceptance but a tad disappointed I was not selected for the Honors Program.

pagirl17 - That is really great news! I did hedge some for sure, because it seemed like a couple of people with similar stats were not getting the size awards I had seen in the past, but now things seem to be more like I expect. Your D’s AP record is probably stronger than theirs were, if I had to guess. To be honest, I would have predicted the Academic Achievement Award ($20K) if I had been more sure, so still even better!

Don’t forget to call ahead to see if you can look into the stables before you go down in March. I think the possibility of your D doing something along those lines could be very exciting.

gtowner - Read my post here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/tulane-university/1424487-honors-program.html</a> No need to be disappointed at all. You can do everything the same as if you were selected. Just make the grades freshman year and you are all set.

No, I will not be getting any scholarships from the UCs. But that is currently still 10k less per year. I don’t think I should have any problems getting the classes I require, and I could probably graduate from a UC in three years if I REALLY wanted to. I agree the UCs are in a bit of a bad position, but the recent propostion that passed should hopefully help. By the way, I was wondering how is Tulane for a non-white kid?

Tulane is an extremely inclusive, welcoming community. I have a hard time believing that any race, nationality, religion or sexual orientation would have difficulty in any regard as long as they have a good personality themselves.

Obviously 10K a year is significant money to most people, and of course I have no idea how that impacts your family. Foe some the difference in size and other factors would make that a good investment, for others it makes little difference so might as well save the money. It will be interesting to see how California is going to function under those new laws.

Okay so the one day I don’t check Gibson after work because I went to do some errands, I get a text from my kid asking for 60,000 a year for 4 years. Then he sends me a shot of his acceptance. I am so happy for him. I thought I was the only one checking on a daily basis. Apparently he has been doing it too. He has been trying to act all cool and like its not a big deal, but I know he is thrilled. A few days back he texted me that Tulane was his first choice in case I didn’t know ( hello of course I knew I’m his mother). But he also knows money will be an issue. Right now so many unanswered questions, but the acceptance was vital and so important. We are happy!

Yep, gotta get Step One before anything else becomes a concern. Congrats!

Great news Readalotmom - Congratulations to you and your son!

My daughter got in after a long wait. Now awaiting the letter regarding merit and word from architecture school!
