Tulane Class of '17 Admitted Students

Yeah the facebook group is good. I bet by May it will be way more lively, up until the first day of classes.

Popofsenior, I had similar stats but slightly higher standardized test score. I did get substantial merit aid. I know FC is truly a Tulane expert, but definitely give it a shot with additional merit aid. Good luck!

hope you’re right hugo. She’s taken 14 honors classes, along with 4 APs. Would have been surprised to get over $20,000, but was hoping for the $20,000 and expecting maybe $8,000. Disappointed with nothing.

Mavitale: same with my DS and the FB group. I even blamed vitrac for it, telling him that vitrac suggested it. Sometimes it works when the suggestion doesn’t come from me. Not this time.

It’s true that girls are more likely to join a Fb group than boys. As for your s taking advice from me, LINY, yeah, nice try!

I joined the facebook page and love it!

My S just got admitted. How can we find out what his merit award is? There is a website he can go to that says he is in, but when I click on the financial aid links, there are just computer errors.

Xwords- you will receive a letter via snail mail in 7-10 days with your son’s acceptance and any merit award. Congrats!

They don’t activate the FA section until spring semester sometime. As Vitrac says, merit awards (and Honors Program invitations) are in the paper letter only.

I was accepted on dec. 7. Received my letter today.

Flyboy2tf…and???

Do you think it would be worth it for me to apply for the DHS? I was accepted to the university, but I did not receive any merit scholarships.
ACT: 29
UW GPA: 3.5
Almost all courses were honors, and 4 were APs.
Many extra curriculars and leadership positions, (a lot having to do with community service).
A few examples: 2-year Captain and 3-year Choreographer for my dance company, Volunteer Sunday School Teacher all 4 years, Freshman Mentor, Dance Marathon Morale Captain, Relay For Life team captain, etc.
I have an awesome idea for the box prompt, but I don’t know if my scores will outright eliminate me from the process?

I would probably never discourage someone from applying for a scholarship, although I’ve not applied for scholarships myself because of the same line of thinking. I would say it is kind of late to start a project if you haven’t already since the deadline is coming up in less than a week. I would apply anyway if you have an awesome idea, and you don’t know if your scores will eliminate you until the scholarships are given! You really have nothing to lose. I say go for it.

Accepted! (saw it via Gibson)

ACT 34
GPA 4.0
Honors and AP classes, strong in the humanities, math and physics.
Love, love, LOVE theater and music, and Tulane has great productions and programs.

I’m hoping for merit money so that I’ll be able to enroll for the Fall.

Congrats! I’m sure you will get a very nice merit aid offer.

mongo460 - Unless there is something we cannot see, I am sure you will get a very nice letter from Tulane. You should try for the full tuition awards, DHS and Paul Tulane.

samsch3 - I can only tell you that your stats are significantly below those of the usual winners. Typically DHS winners have ACT scores of 33-36 or SAT scores of 2250-2400, and they rank in the top 5% of their class at least, more usually in the top 3%. Typically that translates into a 3.8+ UW GPA with lots of AP courses, if the school offers them. I’ll just leave it at that.

mongo460 - Incredibly stats! I hope you get enough merit aid, so Ill see you next fall!

Finally heard back - ACCEPTED!
GPA - 3.6 UW, 1950 SAT, honors & 5 AP classes, 450+ hours of community service, many EC’s.

Congrats, fakebrain! At least that proves it isn’t all deferrals at this stage.

Thank you FC! I was afraid that at this late in the game I would be deferred, but I checked Gibson this morning and was accepted. I’m excited to receive my letter in the mail soon.

Fake brain what did ur Gibson say before being accepted
