@UndecidedinSTL At least you were waitlisted. My son was denied and my brother went to Tulane Law School.
HAS ANYONE GOT IN YET? this is depressing
Idk lol. I mean I applied RD and I didn’t show much interest. I can’t remember if I wrote the Why Tulane essay. @fallenchemist What do you think?
@DL43516
I think you nailed it. You didn’t show interest and so they didn’t waste a spot on you. I don’t mean that in a negative manner at all, just the reality that they focus on students that seem to really want to be at Tulane. That will take priority over Ivy League type stats. I am sure you got into several top schools, yes? Tulane knows that will be the case and the chances of you actually attending Tulane are very slim. High stat students need to show strong interest, maybe even more so than students that are just a little lower in their average stats. Those students are more likely to attend Tulane than you probably would have. Clearly Tulane was supposed to be a safety for you.
Wait listed. Seems to be a tough year to get into a good school. Solid stats, EC’s and the rest.
wait listed.
Rejected today. 4.31 weighted, 3.98 uw, 1960 SAT, Lots of ECs: president, treasurer of organizations, speech and debate awards, mock trial awards, lots of volunteer work, lead roles and choreographer for school plays, great recommendations from teachers
Son waitlisted. from CA, GPA 4.4+, 9 APs, 2320 SAT 33 ACT, lots of leadership, volunteer, team competitions. Don’t really understand it, but he got into UCLA and he is happy so all is well. Good luck to all of you!
Waitlisted after being deferred EA. Down, but not out! @fallenchemist Do you think it would make sense for me to reach out once more to my admissions rep, expressing my continued interest?
I’d still contemplate going to Tulane, but I doubt I’d get any financial aid. I’d also need to hear back by May 1st.
@Brianna3 - Absolutely. I think they ask you if you want to even be on the wait list or not, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to continue to push your own case. Wait list “plucks” vary tremendously from year to year. Sometimes zero or very few, other times as many as 100 or so. It is completely unpredictable.
D waitlisted. 3.7 UW 30 ACT, 2 varsity sports, etc. Did not visit. Wrote “Why Tulane”. From CO.
Seems like its MUCH easier to get in EA at Tulane. Anyway, relieved not to have to think about that outrageous price tag.
Good luck all!
@fallenchemist Thank you! Your advice and support to so many of us is hugely appreciated!!! We will get through this!
It’s a tough time of year. But most seem to have great other schools they are already in, which makes it so much easier to take.
For my fellow wait-listees:
http://tuadmissionjeff.blogspot.com/2012/03/waitlist-now-what.html
Waitlisted after being deferred! 2380 SAT, 34 ACT, 3.68 GPA and 4.62 W and all A’s except for one B+ first semester. Wrote Why Tulane essay, visited campus and toured, and attended three or four sessions locally w/ admissions reps. Emailed them after being deferred talking about my great interest and additional EC’s. Pretty bummed, but it’s okay cause I got into #1 and #2 colleges while Tulane is #4! Good luck to everyone on the wait list with me (I’m declining my position)
DS rejected today. 3.8 UW GPA, 4.5. weighted. National Merit commended student, IB full diploma candidate, AP Scholar with Distinction, 2-sport varsity athlete (captain of one), 2260 SAT, school band (not marching) all 4 years. Not much community service. In retrospect, thought he could have done a better job on on “Why Tulane.” Bummed, but lots of other good options. Tulane was also my younger child’s first choice, but that’s changed now
Waitlisted. Settling in for the colleges I am getting good aid from though as I don’t expect to get much from Tulane if I am accepted from the waitlist. Still, could consider it if the package was right. A bit far from home though. 3.8 uw/ 4.4 Weighted; 31 ACT; lots of Aps…lost could 7? others every Honors class when no AP was offered; over 1,000 service hours and developed a relationship between my school and a camp for kids with SN to provide a volunteer team each summer (pretty sure that’s why they waitlisted me versus denying me), been doing that for three summers now. Answered why Tulane, focused on the service to Special Needs community and how Tulane incorporates that. Pretty much that was what inspired me to apply to Tulane as I am a sibling to a speckal needs kiddo so I understand it first hand.
@fallenchemist, I’m completely with you. I didn’t write why Tulane, and I already feel bad about having to say NO to at least 2 very good schools. I’m glad that I don’t have to do that to Tulane. Cheers!
Did everyone that heard back today get rejected? Are there no chance of acceptances? @fallenchemist
