@proudmomma2016 Congrats to your daughter for the success she’s having at Tulane. It’s funny you mention the food options (or lack thereof), because that was also a sore spot for the school way back when I attended in the 1990s. Back then, there was Arby’s, the Rat (burger joint in the basement of the Union), a so-so cafeteria, and a tiny student market. I’d often go over to Loyola for lunch or drive off campus to eat. Ironic that food options were so limited in a place like NOLA, but perhaps it will improve with the Commons.
If anyone hears back for their ED II decision at any point please post here! I’m dying to know everyone’s results and when they start sending them out
does anyone know if they posting acceptances on our green wave portals or our Gibson portals?
@hross12 i would assume it’s the green wave portal since gibson is meant for financial aid

D accepted ED II! Congrats to everyone!
For those that got accepted was the merit award in your acceptance letter and in the Gibson Portal?
@emptyingthenest5 Merit was listed in the letter. We saw it on the Gibson portal as well.
@proudmama2016 thanks for your post and info about how well your daughter is doing! It sounds like she has found a great fit - which is precisely what we all hope for! I’d love to hear more about how she likes living in WALL. I know that’s an area my D wants to explore during honors weekend since we hear many honors students choose to live elsewhere and that WALL is really quiet. Not that she wouldn’t like quiet - I just don’t know if it opens more doors up socially to be in another dorm since you still come to WALL to do some of the honors meetings/discussions. She likes to study outside of the house so can’t imagine she’d want to study a lot in her room. Even in high school, she heads to coffee shops or the library & is more productive that way. I also think the meeting they get with the advisor sounds really helpful! The other school she is considering would be much larger than Tulane so I do want her to take note of some of the more specific areas of attention she’d get in this smaller environment. Thanks for any other tips! I also think that mentor program sounds great. (And hopefully the new dining hall building will be a big food improvement!)
im gonna be the rare comment and say i got waitlisted. not sure how i feel about this and i dont want to go anywhere else that i applied to. I mistakingly fell in love with tulane… I spent so much time on the community service scholarship application just for a waste. what the heck do i do?
EDII accepted! so excited!!!
@yoelijah Im so sorry. I know its overwhelming but we will all end up at a good school.
Has your daughter heard from Tulane about more info on TPM program? My daughter has been invited to apply but other then PDF attachment there is not much info. If she has, do you mind sharing it?
accepted ED 2 today!!! SO happy!! :))
@happytimesforever yeah man it sucks. what happens if i win the community service scholarship? i worked on it for a long time and its pretty good… could that warrant me to be admitted?
S accepted EDII! Very excited. Waiting on FA. Congrats all and I’m really sorry to those that were waitlisted. We sure do know that feeling as well. Best of luck.
@Irdl1234, D emailed the contact for TPM asking whether the program is binding and the answer was “no,” students can still apply to other med schools. Other than that, we don’t have any details other than what’s in the email/PDF. There is a link to the TPM application in the Green Wave portal, if you haven’t already seen that–there is an essay requirement, and it’s due by 2/15. We were already registered for the first Honor’s Weekend, so I am assuming D will be contacted to set up an interview during that weekend after she submits her essay. Are you planning to attend one of the Honors Weekends?
@pacnwfromne, Wall is a great dorm. It’s very social, and the times I’ve been there, and judging from my Skype chats, it is not quiet. The rooms are nice, but the class is so large that doubles were converted into triples and singles into doubles. Thankfully the rooms are a nice size to accomodate the extra bodies. My D does her homework at the Business school which has quiet corners and comfortable chairs (according to her). D says the floors vary – some are more rowdy than others. Other dorms are much older and not in great condition; some will be torn down once the new quad dorms are built (construction begins this summer but will take a few years). Hope you have great visit!
@yoelijah, hang in there! Maybe let your admission rep know that Tulane is your first choice. Perhaps include your semester grades, or can you add anything new to your application? I good paper or something new to add? A teacher or coach letter in support of you? Make sure they know it’s your top choice.
