Waitlisted after being deferred EA. 1470, 4.0 with 13 ap classes.
I am kind of surprised that there are no Fall admits or spring admitted decisions this evening. The lesson learned here for next year’s applicants is that they need to do their darn best to show demonstrated interest and get admitted through EA; and if they get deferred EA then they need to be willing to go ED1 or ED 2, because otherwise there is nothing really to look forward to on this RD decision date.
waitlisted with a 4.0 and 32 Act and a bunch of extra curriculars
Does anyone know if students accepted off the wait list at Tulane are ever offered merit aid?
Waitlisted.
Waitlisted. 3.99 GPA, 1530 SAT. Flew from Oregon just to visit Tulane, emailed admissions counselor, etc. So many great extracurriculars.
Virtually no one is accepted off the waitlist at Tulane. As I posted earlier, in the last five years a grand total of TWO students who took a place on the WL were accepted. Two students in five years! I also doubt there is any merit offered at that point.
Totally agree @trackmbe3. Future students: If you are full-pay or qualify for need-based FA, and really want to go to Tulane, ED1 or 2 is your best shot. Otherwise, high stats kids should go EA.
I went through this with my daughter 4 years ago. She applied to Tulane RD and every single person on CC (as I recall) was waitlisted or rejected RD, including her. This time around, our son took the ED2 plunge and was accepted with stats in the 25-50% range for Tulane.
Very sorry to see not much good news here yet! Was hoping to hear from other Tulane 2023s. Wishing you all the best.
Waitlisted. 1500 SAT, 3.72 GPA from an extremely difficult and competitive top high school, lot of unique extracurriculars I’m passionate about.
@Clairenola - what are your DD’s results?
@4kids4colleges that may be true although Jeff’s blog specifically lays out how this year’s acceptances and waitlist are different than in years past. If one has other options, sure, probably let this go unless it’s your #1 and you’re genuinely ready to commit/attend as Jeff himself puts it. It simply isn’t accurate in this context, in light of Jeff’s own words, to advise that “virtually no one [will be] accepted.” This year is a slightly different ballgame – on many fronts. Again, not likely but not hopeless.
Last year there were 10k+ students put on the waitlist. Two were admitted. The years immediately before, there were between 3k and 5k offered a spot on the waitlist. None were admitted. So this year they are cutting the waitlist in half, meaning they are back to 5k or so on the WL. But it is true that the class of accepted students is smaller this year. So, those are some tough odds, but ok, not “hopeless” I guess. I don’t see them going from zero or 2 accepted to hundreds or more accepted from the WL, but we will see.
1470 SAT, 12 APs, 4.5 WGPA, 3.95 UGPA, great ecs. Crazy!!!
D’s best friend accepted! Sorry don’t know stats.
@djbridjmurh and @SwimSwam12 don’t forget to put in your post if you were Accepted, Rejected or Waitlisted.
@jym626 She was denied She’s sad, but hopefully will be fine by tomorrow and looking forward to choosing between BU and UGA. She also got in to LSU and Mizzou with lots of $$ but not as interested in those. She thinks her expectations were too high, maybe she was right. My next d is in 10th grade and will start her essays now because writing for 25 schools will take awhile lol.
My son was waitlisted after being deferred in EA.
SAT 1510
GPA 4.2
We purchased tickets to NOLA for spring break (Easter week) in case he got in and to show the school to his younger brother too. Fortunately, the tickets are on Southwest and changeable. He’s already declined his spot on the WL.
Congrats to those that got in and best wishes to everyone else. Lots of good choices out there!
@Clairenola - Your D has nothing to be sad about - nothing! Your D worked hard and was accepted into great universities. UGA and BU are on equal rank with Tulane.
As to all denied and waitlisted, pat yourselves on the back and give yourselves a well-done as you will all succeed wherever you go!
Son Denied. 33 ACT 3.87 UW GPA 8 ap’s, Multi Varsity Sport player, Captain, All state Saxophone. Looks like allot of denials with kids with better stats than my boy. Tulane obviously padding stats. I will pass along what I have learned to others. Good Luck to all.
D rejected- EA deferred and fly-in. Sad day… why on Ivy day? Ugh…
Does anyone have information on the guaranteed transfer program? I got into that rather than being accepted Fall 2019:/ not ideal
