So this would seem to validate that there really hasn’t been a change in approach…
Assuming they look to fill ~2,000 slots every year. Not every one of those 400 are going to enroll - even if 50% did it would be a pretty high number so call it 200… they left 10% (likely less!) of their slots open for deferred and RD.
it’s strange cause i know a decent amount of people who didn’t get email. the email basically asked if you wanted to withdraw your application to “make room for other applicants.” not sure if it means anything (like how that withdrawal thing at berkeley meant something a few years ago), but we’ll just have to wait and see for tmrw!
Based on the language that @justmehere posted from FB (I’m not on FB so can’t confirm) it would imply that all remaining decisions are coming out this afternoon - or at least implies that “nearly 400 students will get an offer” and anyone else that doesn’t get anything, you’re declined or waitlisted.
Did anyone on here personally not get the email and awaiting a decision (and has checked spam folders)?
My son did not get an email. Not sure what that means (or not). He was deferred from the early round but has pretty much “forgotten” about Tulane- So I guess that’s good, because the odds aren’t in his favor , lol. He has some other great choices that he’s finally narrowed down to (Va Tech, UF). What a crazy process! Best of luck to all- they will do amazing, wherever they land!
Thanks for the response - not trying to do any “astrology” on what the letters might contain, just find it funny the wording of their announcement and the idea that only some people got emails. Your son selected to continue interest into RD? DS is in same position - deferred from EA but had to select to continue into RD round.
Ultimately given the numbers (over 40K total applications, 400 notices of acceptance in RD) it wouldn’t seem ANYONE should have hopes up of an acceptance. Agree - crazy process.
Yes, he applied EA and was deferred to regular round and submitted LOCI form in December. It really wasn’t top of his list and like I said, he kinda moved on and said he probably wouldn’t go there, even if I got in.
He loves Va Tech, got accepted in EA round but got into UF a few weeks ago-(that was a curveball at the end. Lol) So we will go visit- but I think I know where his heart is. They all find their place, that’s the most important thing!
Best of luck to your student!
Thanks for the additional information. Trying to get information in the thread that future years might be able to use to understand admit process. Seems like there may not be any rhyme or reason on who got that email or who didn’t - but may know more tonight.
DS is in similar situation - We’re way OOS and although he attended a Tulane information session at a hotel he’s not visited the campus, has other good offers on the table and would probably throw a little wrench into the conversation with an offer from Tulane (never mind but FA would need to be substantial).
Portal updated - DS accepted - Architecture (got email) - I don’t know how the hell that happened… was a reach for him and he was declined to other Architecture programs (UMass, Penn State) and waitlisted Virg Tech. I’m sure he’ll be thrilled but need to wait to see what aid package is like
