it was on the gibson portal under financial aid award
wait… i just logged intogibson and searched around and it said there was something requiring acceptance – and then it said distinguished scholar award… does that mean he is in???
Congrats @fun1234!
Would he get a financial award if he wasn’t getting in?
He’s in! In our case, What abt if you don’t qualify for Fin aid and stats are to low for Merit but have a chance to get in anyway, what would Gibson say or not say? And what would that mean?
I GOT $30,000!!! OH MY GOSH!!!
this process is so crazy – i have no idea what anything means
Where does it even say you’ve received the award?
So, go onto Gibson. On the left, there is a link, the first link, you can click that says “Summary of Current Status.” When you click on that link, it will redirect you to a page and you enter “2017-2018 year.” Then, it will say if you have been awarded aid, with the word “awarded” underlined. Click on that, and it will go into detail about it.
Thank you! Guess I don’t have that link…
I looked under my son’s gibson portal for financial aid. I have been looking for weeks and nothing and toady it just showed up! It also says he is missing some financial aid forms. He sent some, but I guess not all the stuff.
@fun1234 congrats! so your son has not gotten an official acceptance yet? but the financial aid award information just showed up on his portal today?

Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Tulane is my number one school and I really showcased that in my Why Tulane essay. I made a ZeeMee and put a lot of effort into it. I visited, emailed my counselor, and showed a lot of genuine interest. I am so happy! My scores aren’t the greatest but I want to go to Tulane SO BAD and I definitely did everything I could to show them I wanted to be a part of their school.
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: Accepted to UGA, also applied to GA Tech, Emory, and Vanderbilt (still waiting for acceptances/rejections)
So to be clear, if it says on Gibson that I received a merit award for 2017-18, does that mean I’m in??? I have not received any other notification. Help! This is way too stressful!
@macaronnie Yes that is what happened, but I thought the portals for admittance only happen on Monday night so I am thinking this Monday night something should show up.
@nannypoo I believe so. If you received a Merit Award on Gibson (which is definitely an official portal an update has to mean something), I think you’re in but the Tulane Status portal won’t update until Monday, because that’s the only day that they update. If we’re not in, I’ll be really disappointed
Where do you go in the Gibson portal to see this?
I’m so confused it says I got a 27,000 dollar scholarship but I haven’t gotten any acceptance emails or anything at all… This is a quote from the portal:
You have unsatisfied student requirements for this aid year.
You have been awarded financial aid which totals $27,000.00.
Based on your academic transcript, the status of your academic progress is New, Not Yet Evaluated as of Beginning of Time.
View your financial aid history.
Anyone have any idea what this means???
Just called admissions. Tried to confirm if merit scholarship means I’m in. They are not allowed to say anything over the phone. He did say “everyone will know by next week!” Lol. Thanks a lot! Stress continues!!!
are we sure that financial aid means acceptance? If so that would be really cool.
