deferred. 1340 SAT, 3.66 Unweighted GPA at difficult private school. Really good Why Tulane, amazing extra curricular and leadership(leader of 3 clubs and Student government), started my own non-profit, 1500+ hours community service, 3 season varsity athlete (captain of them all).
why was everyone and their mothers deferred…
Deferred EA from NY: 98 UW GPA, 1570 SAT, also sent in 2 SAT II Tests in Chem (800) and Math II (760), lots of ECs with leadership, did “Why Tulane?” essay, also sent in my app in September so it was there a while before the deadline.
Didn’t get leter before portal updates, but EDII button didn’t work for me.

Accepted! I also received the Distinguished Scholars Award. 32 ACT, 4.29 GPA, 13 APs, incredible ECs, internships, and essays, I also demonstrated strong interest in school

I was feeling a little dejected that I didn’t get the 27k Founder’s scholarship, but after looking at how many RIDICULOUSLY well qualified candidates were deferred, I feel very grateful. I will say this; I signed up for the in-person interview as soon as it was available, emailed my local admissions counselor with questions, and visited in person, so my insight is that demonstrated interest is VERY important for Tulane admissions, possibly explaining some of the shocking deferrals. If you can’t see any change on your portal you were most likely accepted into the spring semester. In the upper right corner click on Fall 2018 and it will drop down to Spring 2019

Deferred. 34 ACT, 99 weighted 98 unweighted GPAs, great ECs, fantastic teacher recs, unique Common App essay. Did a Why Tulane essay which was pretty good at the least. Can’t say I’m surprised after ED2-gate, and showing absolutely no demonstrated interest besides the Why Tulane essay. They really are insecure about being seen as a safety lol. Congratulations to all who got in!

Deferred. 35 ACT, 3.8UW and 4.0-4.1W (school doesn’t report on a 4.0 so this is a conversion). varsity captain 3 years of a sport, jv cocaptain 1 year of another, tons of service hours, wrote about personal circumstances, good why tulane essay, strong common app, coming from an oos catholic school

I’m sure demonstrated interest played a big role in my being deferred, but there was nothing I could do. I emailed my admissions counselor and he never responded. I wrote the Why Tulane essay. I live in WI so I couldn’t visit and I live 3.5 hours away from the nearest traveling-admissions event so I couldn’t go.
