Tulane EA/ED Decisions Class of 2022

Could someone tell me the process of getting deferred? Does this mean we have to resubmit everything?

what were your stats

got the same answer @pjlover1999

anyone else who applied EA get accepted to the spring?

Just got in!!! Didn’t get a letter in the mail, but my ED2 button disappeared. Honers college and 25k/year!!! 33ACT and 94 gap with 9AP’s. Roll Wave!

Deferred. 3.88 GPA 1370 SAT.

Not sure if anyone has pointed this out already but an additional form was added to my portal (below the application checklist) that asks for “continued interest,” where you can switch from EA to EDII

Answered the why Tulane essay, good EC’s, 6 AP’s, honor distinction. So many other underqualified kids in my school got accepted, and I see so many overqualified people got deferred on this thread. Maybe Tulane sent out accidental deferrals like how they sent out accidental acceptances last year

If you don’t get in, please don’t be discouragaed. And I think I may have a possible answer as for why we have so many deferrals with high stats, including myself. Tulane is NOTORIOUS for placing high regard to Demonstrated Interest because they see people with high stats and think they only applied to the school because it’s “Tulane” and free, and probably won’t end up going if they get in elsewhere. The four others who got in EA from my school ALL toured Tulane. If you’re serious about going, definitely make a trip there and speak to your admissions counselor. Still plenty of opportunities for merit aid as well even if you didn’t get in EA (My friend got deferred but then toured and spoke to her counselor and not only did she get in RD but she also found out she got Paul Tulane earlier than most.) There is definitely still a chance and don’t be discouraged. You didn’t get deferred based off your stats, so don’t think lower of yourself.

If we switch to EDII and don’t get in, do we get put into the RD applicant pool?

Accepted to the Honors College w/ $30,000 per year scholarship. 34 ACT, 1540 SAT, tons of extracurriculars, good essays and recs. I visited Tulane and made sure to write an amazing Why Tulane essay-- I used all 800 words available on Common App. When I visited, the counselor emphasized the importance of demonstrated interest, so if you were deferred, don’t give up. Send an email to your counselor explaining that Tulane is still a top choice for you, and try to provide some type of update if you can. Good luck to everyone! I’m super happy!

@cantkeepcalm13 I don’t think so

Deferred:
1510 SAT
4.6 Weighted GPA (4.0) Scale
Top 5%
Great EC’s
Varsity Sport for 4 years (Captain for 2)
Over 400 hours of community service.

Guys, don’t worry! Stuff happens. Congratulations to those of you who were accepted!

Ok, guys, it was fun, this forum was definitely very unhealthy for my mental health but overall a pleasurable experience. To everyone who got deferred (including me) hopefully we’ll be living it up next fall in NOLA and I’ll see you there. The college applications process is crazy guys but we are all going through it and we’ll all get in somewhere I guarantee.

Oops, the form actually just asks if you want to continue being considered or if you want to withdraw your application.

Deferred
4.2 weighted, 3.8 unweighted
30 ACT
very good Why Tulane essay
from Mass
very good extracurriculars (NHS, community service, work, varsity sports, etc)

Seeing all the overqualified people on here really seems to substantiate my point that Tulane defers overqualified applicants because they think they have other options available and only applied to Tulane for the prestige.
