Ok, after recently attending the freshman orientation this past weekend I am convinced.

Given the academic courses and cultural opportunities at the university and in New Orleans, I am convinced my daughter made the right decision to attend Tulane. Another confirmation Tulane parents are quite friendly – look forward at Parent’s Weekend to meeting more.

That is really great, barkeep. I assume your D is equally convinced she made the right decision. Did she happen to meet a potential roomy? Also curious as to what schools she choose Tulane over. I remember you said she was accepted to a couple of Cali based schools, but not sure you said which ones. Did she get any other acceptances besides those two and Tulane?

Besides U C Irvine (accepted) and Cal Poly SLO (deferred then rejected), it was University of Phoenix and Capella University.

I didn’t realize Cal Poly was so competitive. I know its main strengths are in engineering and architecture, but that’s about all I know about it. I don’t really follow the for-profit schools like U of Phoenix or Capella at all.

FC - I was pulling your leg about the for-profit schools.

SLO is competitive and requires you declare a major prior to enrolling. My daughter was not disappointed by the SLO rejection. It appears to beslightly easier to grow a third arm than change the major at SLO.

Tulane had her attention from the first contact.

Oh, lol. Sorry, I guess sarcasm is harder to detect on the web sometimes.

That’s interesting about Cal Poly SLO. I will tuck that away in my knowledge bank.

Cal poly Slo is EXTREMELY competitive FC … More so than the UCs aside from the top 3 ( UCB, UCLA, UCSD)…, very good programs not only in engineering…they also graduate their kids in 4 years , not a given in most UCs,…major draw back is that you need to declare major before you start and difficult to change…tuition is a huge bargain as well…less than 6k if u can believe…it’s on my sons list as well…

Good to know. I assume the 6K is in-state only, but that is amazing.

Yep… of course in state only FC; CA loves to milk all out of staters as I know you are very aware of. But Cal Poly SLO is not well known outside CA, so you will find predominantly CA kids…another draw back…as usual…no school is perfect.
