Tulane Health Insurance

Has anyone purchased the Tulane Aetna Insurance and dropped their child's coverage from their own policy? I had originally waived Tulane's insurance thinking my plan's premium would be cut in half, since I took my daughter, who graduated from college and is now employed, off our policy. I just found out that we are charged the same amount for dependent(s) whether we have one child or 20! So now Tulane's plan is looking good, but I'd love to hear from anyone who's already been on the plan for a year. I'm concerned about how well it will work when our son comes home to SoCal for breaks.

My son was under the insurance plan last year, but he only used it one time. It was last summer when he got poison ivy. We found that there were at least 10 doctors covered by the plan within a 10 mile radius of our home. His doctor visit was $400, the insurance negotiated price wAS $123, and we were responsible for that amount as it went towards his deductible.

Avoid it like the plague. Seriously.

stewart - maybe you are right, I haven’t looked into it at all. But some reasons would be nice.

I also notice you post on many different university threads, giving advice about them. How is you you know so much about so many things university, no matter what the school?
