@sss111222 The sooner you put your housing deposit in, the better your pick of dorms.
do you know when I can place my deposit? also when you place ur deposit do you also have to state who ur roommate is or can you change that? @EDHDAD
@sss111222 there is an application process for the dorms, RLC and roommate choices. Check their housing website but if you’re beginning next fall I don’t think it’s available yet.
@sss111222 I believe you can do all that right now. I haven’t dug into it too much yet because we are going to the honors weekend first.
@EDHDAD and @sss111222 Housing applications and Residential Learning Community applications opened up last year on March 1 and we were told that students who fill out the applications on March 1 will be just as likely to get their top Housing choice as students who fill out the housing application on April 30. Because the Housing office will not begin to review applications until May 1. And starting on May 15 students can list their residential housing and roommate preference. Housing and roommate preferences were allowed to be edited through June. I like the way Tulane does this in comparison to other schools where housing is first come first serve dependent on when a student submits their enrollment deposit. Students at those schools feel added pressure to enroll sooner than they may otherwise be ready to based in housing concerns.
@trackmbe3 Thank you that is very helpful!
ya thank you…so there is no way to increase the chances of getting the dorm I desire?
@SomethingScience @trackmbe3 Hopefully you still monitor this thread. I have a question about fraternity. I heard that about 40% of male students are involved. Does this mean the focus of social life is frat activities? For someone not involved in Greek life, will he be at a disadvantage of gaining academic support, campus job opportunities, professional networking opportunities, and graduate school advancement opportunities (i.e. a classics major wanting to be qualified for the Creative Scholar Program)?
Thanks for your help!
@DSWY888 this question about fraternity should probably go on a separate thread. The focus on social life is not on fraternities or sororities. There are too many other social events on and off campus for the Greek life to become the focal point. Also, most of the Greek fraternity houses are not large enough to have members (especially underclassman) live in them so this is another factor why it is not the focus on social life. The fraternities oftentimes host parties and invite non- members as well as their own members. You asked if someone would be disadvantaged in the opportunities you mention above by not participating. No. Not at all.
@trackmbe3 Thank you so much for answering my question! This is very helpful!
